    Elfy Update, 6/29

As of this morning I am officially on the wrong side of twenty. I'd say it feels weird, but I don't really feel any different. Age is a weird thing, isn't it?

I know it isn't my normal update day, but I realized I hadn't said anything in awhile. I'm also sure you guys are about as sick of hearing my excuses for slow writing as I am of writing them, but here we are. Last time was RE8, this time it's a combination of Mass Effect and DnD.

Man, I've gotten really bad at keeping you guys updated, and getting a chapter done a week. It's gotten to difficult to focus with all my other projects floating around.

In my defense, neither quick nor Qrow have been editing, so I'm not the only slacker here. Not that it makes this better...

Elfy's Writing Board · 3:20pm May 4th, 2020

It's been awhile since I posted an actual, proper update, so I thought I should get around to doing that. As of right now, Filly Friends is just under 2/3rds-ish of the way done. It's been interesting to actually push myself to write something consistently. It's also shaping up to my be longest story to date. It sits in Scrivner at just under 55k words, which is longer than everything except Last Hope.

So that's pretty neat.

Behind that though, I dredged up an old promised bonus chapter to In Search of Knowledge. Did I really write that author's note? Jesus, I'm so disappointed in myself... At the very least, it is very untimely, as promised. I don't know when it'll be out, but it's on it's way.

The reason I tracked that down was because I've been informed by my editor, Quick, that I have to write the sequel to ISoK for my next project. I'm using this chapter as a way to try t get back into that mindset and catch back up on my own story. It sounds weird, but I haven't touched this thing for six years. Trying to keep it all straight is difficult, to say the least.

I think that about covers it for now. I'm trying to get on top of writing again, because moving burned all of my backlogged chapters, but if I'm able to get back on top of it, I'm looking at a way to get previews or something like that out to you guys ahead of the actual chapter going live. I also randomly, occasionally stream myself being bad at video games here, consider yourselves invited. Quick sits behind me, so you can creep on him too. I also play FFXIV on Crystal DC, hit me up sometime.

I hope you all stay safe, and I'll talk to you later.

Six years? Jeez, that’s basically a fanfic eternity.

I know. Honestly, I'm surprised I came back at all. I love writing, am planning on making a career of it, but I fell off the show pretty hard. I finished a couple of things here and there, but nothing really substantial. Some stuff went down in my personal life last year when I started writing again, so I guess I just fell back on what I already enjoyed. I had a good concept for Filly Friends floating around so I just started.

Most people remaining definitely abandoned the show at some point; I don’t know many people who use canon to its completion. It’s honestly better that way because then there’s room for more genuine and cohesive stuff. I wouldn’t be afraid to dig up an older idea or planned sequel and start renewing it without making it conform to canon.
