Leaving FimFiction (For the Foreseeable Future) · 2:45am May 4th, 2020
Hello. My name is Nathan. It’s been a few months.
I have been gone since Christmas and my last fic was somewhere in December I don’t know what. I know nobody really cares but I feel like I have the responsibility to explain the title of this blog. As if it’s not clear, yes, until Generation 5 of Pony comes out, I’ll be leaving FimFiction and switching on to Quotev for my future work. Couple Reasons:
1) The rise of my love for other fandoms. Now, it’s no surprise after I wrote two fics about them with one that I never got to release that I have touched upon a new fandom, Pretty Cure. Since the quarantine of 2020 began, I have also been exploring other animes and that put me in an awkward identity crisis as a writer. I have no plans to write fics for any of those shows but Precure has definitely given Pony a run for its money, with its many plots from many seasons as well as highly relatable messages and stories. My passion grew fast in the year I’m in the fandom and I’ve wanted to spend more time working on fics about it as I did for Pony.
2) Acceptance of the end of Generation 4 and my plummeting passion. My love for Pony had already reached its pinnacle in 2018. It had been the greatest and most influential ride of my life for 3 years. But when Pony was announcing its final season in 2019, I expected highly of it in hopes of ending this journey of my life on a good note. I was deeply disappointed by season 9. And with what mentioned above, my passion was immediately replaced. I have since lost the motivation I always had to write Pony fics, with hardly any good ideas.
3) Growth of Tastes. As I entered into the field of anime I realized what truly captures my heart as I have grown. I like things that I can relate to, I like action, and I like light-heartedness. I’m not saying that Pony doesn’t have them, heaps of it tbh, but I’ve been moving on to some deeper and greater shows that have fascinated me so. Pony would always have a special place in my heart for who I am not just as a writer, but a person in general. However, I have since matured from the 11-year-old self I was when I joined this wonderful fandom, and I thought it’s time for a change. This was the biggest reason that prompted me to write this very blog post and why I’ve lost my touch in creating Pony fics.
Because of how I’ve come to let go of Pony and experiencing the same love for something new as I did 5 years ago, I decided what I really wanted was to write fics about something I’m so passionate about so I can enjoy that happiness while I could. While I’ve been dry of Pony ideas for Months, ideas for other things are booming. It’s been a while since I considered writing this and now I finally came to admit it.
All of my unfinished fics will be canceled. I am really sorry if anyone was waiting for me to post any kind of work. On the contrary, if you are waiting out the quarantine days hoping to start watching something new, I highly recommend Pretty Cure. The series is fun and meaningful to watch. With that, I’d also recommend you check me out on Quotev, where I will be writing on from now on. I write fics about Precure and a standalone series about Human Nature, and perhaps something more in the future.
It has been a pleasure to be a writer and express my imagination here. But, for now, you won’t be seeing me writing anything anytime soon.
Thank you.
~Nathan
