Highlights from BronyCon 2019: Vendor Hall Completion and Lip Sync Battle

In which son_of_heaven176 finally completes his YouTuber collection, enjoys the Lip Sync Battle, and collects more signatures for Firebrand’s wedding present.

Saturday, August 3, 2019: The Third Day of the Final BronyCon

After the post-TF2-panel craziness, Dark Wind and I headed to the Vendor Hall. Memory serving, it was at this point when Dark Wind revealed that he had picked up some Creole from me: upon seeing the line for the Vendor Hall, he said, “As you would say: ‘Anmwey.’” For those of you not versed in Haitian Creole, “anmwey” (also spelled amwe or anmwe: pronounced /ãmweɪ/) is a very versatile interjection, used to convey a sense of being overwhelmed. And to him, that long line for the Vendor Hall was overwhelming. However, we did eventually get in. I would have got in faster with my Sponsor badge, but I didn’t want to just zoom through and leave poor DW in the dust.

I remembered where Lightning Bliss’s table was, so after we entered the Vendor Hall, we headed for her table—and lo and behold, she was actually there this time! I finally got Lightning Bliss’s autograph on my Lightning Bliss Prance card, thus completing my collection. I also had another copy of my Amber Hawthorne Brony D&D profile, which I also asked her to autograph.

Looks like Blissy was feeling a little silly that day.

Moreover, I got her signature on Firebrand’s wedding present. Mad Munchkin’s spot was nearby (Maddie and Blissy were on neighboring tables) and Kickit was there, so I got his signature on Firebrand’s wedding present as well.

My mission there completed, DW and I left the Vendor Hall. Due to the reduced space (remember: they only booked half the convention center for BronyCon 2019), Harmony Plaza was right outside the Vendor Hall. At the time, the Lip Sync Battle was in full swing.

The Lip Sync Battle was very enjoyable, and I spotted Xaldin Wolfgang and Fluff Dragon among the participants. I forgot what Xaldin did, but Fluff’s performance was quite energetic: she and some backup dancers were lip-syncing and dancing to “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman.

After the battle was over, I was quick to get to the both of them and add their signatures to Firebrand’s wedding present.

Once the Lip Sync Battle was over, Dark Wind and I headed out to get some lunch, after which we’d see the legend herself, Lauren Faust.
