So, I got into Yale Today.

    It's resplendent!

I haven't given up writing, just having difficulties finding a computer to do the writing on. The Business is coming back (yay!) but the Things are stuck at home due to the smoke from the wildfires (Boo!)

    Blargh.

There are few things worse than waking up two hours before your alarm is set to go off and not being able to get back to sleep.

Especially if you know you didn't get enough sleep to begin with.

Happy Wednesday, folks. Let's make it happen.

Long Way Round story notes & updates

And thus begins a new story, featuring everyone's favorite royal whipping boy, Blueblood.

I get that it's originally a kids TV show, but I feel like there's more room for a...nuanced take on the guy.

Stay tuned and we'll see how he does!

No Reservations Chapter 8: Story Notes & musings

When I began writing No Reservations, I set out to basically answer two questions: "What would my ideal HiE fic look like?" and "If humans from our reality could make it to Equestria, certainly entities from other realities could wind up there too, right?"

And thus ends the first arc. I'll be writing more episodes, time permitting.

In honor of Memorial Day, Snaproll's guide to common tools & why the ground near him is Angery

As I've alluded to in a few recent blog posts, I've started working for a large hardware store chain, and as such lots of some a few maybe one of you has asked if I can have a recent rundown on how to use several common and useful tools.

2020

Corona, and, if it lasts until tick season, lime updates. · 4:19am Apr 26th, 2020

So, weirdly, I've actually been pretty busy during The Great Hunkering Down of 2020, at least so far.

Let me explain. Normally, my wife and I run our own online business through Amazon & Etsy selling decorations for Weddings, Baby showers, baptisms...basically everything that's been put on hold during this crisis.

So we had to shuffle some assets around, which is why my asset is working at Home Depot these days. In fairness, I'd been considering getting a part time job with them for a while, mostly because I was in there every other weekend, so I might as well get paid for it.

The problem is that, like many other businesses, HD is fairly ethical. They're still open because they're essential (like, say, if your water heater goes out). Furthermore, to help stem the spread of the disease, they're limiting stores to 100 customers at a time. They are also stepping up big in terms of fulfilling online orders for curbside pickup. The issue there is they need about half the store to run online orders, the other half of the store to keep the counts accurate (with varying degrees of success), and the other half of the store to run the actual departments.

For those of you who, like I, are the product of what is charitably referred to as "A Liberal Arts Education", might be somewhat slow to realize, that's one half too few.

For the record, I majored in Philosophy in college. So, not only am I qualified to ask "Would you like Fries with your meal?", I can also ask "Why?"1

1:In reality, any philosopher worth his salt would ask "What Fries?", But this is a rabbit hole we shall not pursue .

It is not all sturm und drang, however. We're not where we should be, financially, but we're not struggling either. So far, other than some belt tightening, the worst that's happened to us is I've managed to develop a truly stupendous blister on one of my feets from all the walking I've done. We're not living hand to mouth like many are at the moment.

It's been truly humbling to see everyone stepping up during this upheaval. Just this morning, I woke up to find my wife valiantly protecting me from the virus.2

2: She was holding a pillow over my face. She's a sweetheart.

Be of good cheer, keep faith, and we'll all get through this. And keep writing. I will if you all will.
