A story unwritten, 'Still Heart' · 5:44am Apr 9th, 2020

I'm not one to comment usually, but seeing this picture really inspired me. I envisioned a story where a young pony (maybe a human reborn as a pony, or just a very self aware colt or filly) earns their cutiemark with the special talent of being emotionally wise/resilient. Essentially, this young pony would be incredibly insightful on matters of the heart, whether it be a tragic event, or enjoying the simple things in life, like the beauty of a sunrise.

I'd love to see a story featuring this young sage wise beyond their years being an emotional cornerstone to all the ponies around them, even their own parents. Maybe with a name like 'Still Heart' or 'Timely Word' referencing their ability to say the most insightful thing appropriate for that moment.

Here's a scene I imagine this character in that most would be completely distraught in:

He sat outside in the front yard of his home, listening to the sounds of the morning birds and watching the sunrise. Still Heart was only 6 years old, but he took pleasure in the beauty of the morning. The door to his home opened and his father approached to join him. It had only been a week since the tragety.

"Still, how… how are you doing?" his father asked, his voice tinged in sadness.

"I'm alright, dad," Still replied, his tone content.

"Y-you know you can talk to me about a-anything, right?"

His father's voice indicated he was on the verge of breaking down into tears.

"Of course, dad! You know you can talk to me too, right?"

He look away from the sunrise to his father sitting to his right. His father looked miserable, with tears pooling in his eyes, head hung.

"Of- of course, son. I know I…"

And that's when he broke down, sobbing softly with his head hung low.

Still Heart turned and stood on his hind legs so he could hug his father around the neck, his cheek pressed against his father's.

"I miss mom, too, dad. It hurts, her not being with us anymore. I miss her hugs and her kisses. I miss her food. I miss her tucking me in at night. I miss her singing. But I know that she still is watching over us. I know that she would want us to remember her, and not be sad, but happy about all the good memories we shared.

"It hurts, missing all of the things she did because of how much she loved us. But I know that I'll never forget her love for you or me, dad."

His father would have been crying harder, but he simply didn't have it in him, given all of the grieving he had been doing for the past five days.

"I know we'll be alright, and that that's what mom would want us to do; remember her love for us and not be sad. She'll always be with us as long as we have her in our hearts."

I know, it's prolly shite, but I wanted to get it out of my system. I desperately wish someone would make a full fanfic featuring the life of the young pony as he grew and shared life experiences with the characters of MLP.
