A Slave's Freedom is one of my favorite stories to write for. Between the amount of research I compile just to get the story to feel more real, and the character drafts that I keep tweaking to ensure my characters are more dimensional than just one, A Slave's Freedom always has me thinking and challenging myself to improve my writing.

And then there's Spike Hates Himself, a story that is so easy to write, I rewrote the entire opening chapter in an hour and thirty minutes. I nearly tripled the word count of that first chapter (1040 words in the original compared to 2,990), and gave the story a new plot to follow!

This description in temporary, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this, folks.

The old version suffered from misdirection. I took the story to a more hospital drama setting, and therefore lost interest in it. However, if I stick to a track that doesn't get too absurd (that Rarity chapter in the original was so dogshit I'm sorry), I should be able to ensure that the story not only is completed, but also a story that'll keep you all hooked, even if it has such elements like actual thoughts of self-hatred to the point of wanting to die and several heart-to-hearts with characters that you may or may not expect. The content will be treated 100% seriously, even though there's that comedy tag lingering. I may have a couple of my friends pre-read it just so it doesn't seem insensitive, since I do see this as a topic that should be discussed, even if it does hit so close to home too. Bottling up your feelings on a subject only hurts you in the long run, after all.

Let me know if you folks are interested in seeing this back on the account. It's a very controversial fic, probably even just as controversial as A Slave's Freedom. And you all should know by now that I love controversy!

In other news, A Slave's Freedom gets three chapters once again! Going to reset the dates on these next three since I don't know if they're truly hitting shelves or not.
