In the Enforcer and Her Blackmailers, I hinted at Starlight Glimmer's sketchy past, which allows her to be blackmailed. She starts the story with PTSD thanks to epic life and death battles, and hints at how she was a gangland bodyguard, the best of the best, until her patron became too stupid to live. The TV series depicts her as an unusually competent fighter, and magically stronger than Twilight Sparkle. Even "domesticated," she ends up cursing her friends in an amazingly scholarly way, and succeeds in switching the royal sisters' cutie marks. She goes from a villain to a hero of Equestria, and is known for keeping her cool when a certain princess proves repeatedly incapable.

How did she get so good at all she does, while so bad a friendship?

I am currently writing a novel-length story detailing her past from when she runs away from Sire's Hollow to when she arrives in Canterlot at the start of Enforcer. It will be a prequel and won't require having read the original story.

I'm at 44,000 words.

I'm trying to decide whether to post while writing, or wait until I completed the first draft. Please comment with your thoughts...

Oh, at least complete the first draft. That's been my motto since I started Epic Unicorn History. Which is still unfinished. :B
