Howdy folks!
I just wanted to take a moment to share a quick update with you.
Over the Leap Day weekend, the writing aid Grammarly offered a decent discount on their premium service. I've used the free version for a while now and appreciate the occasional punctuation, spelling, or run-on sentence suggestion it provides, so I decided to test out the paid version for a few months.
The first thing I did was to copy/paste the existing chapters of Crystals & Chitin into the updated program, resulting in a few hundred new recommendations, mostly concerning tone and clarity. Basically, it wanted me to break up some confusing lines.
So, I did. Or rather, I am in the process of doing so.
I have already updated chapter one. It should flow a lot nicer now and even comes in at a couple of hundred additional words. No re-writes, so don't worry about missing out on content in chapters you've already seen, but if something felt disjointed to you in the past, once I am done with the rest of the pre-existing chapters, you might want to go back and see if it makes more sense to you now.
Moving forward, I am about a thousand words into chapter nine and have already run them through the premium features, so hopefully, it will be posted in an already more goodified state.
Yes, that's a word now.
I am planning to take a couple of days to make my edits. I will take that opportunity to re-read everything to make sure I didn't leave anything out that I wanted to include. I've already spotted one side plot that I forgot about, so I will try to figure out what to do about that as I write the next few chapters.
