Can you edit/proof-read my story?

No. And it’s not that you are not worth my time, it’s just that I’m busy and what little time I have I have already put towards writing my own stories, doing RL stuff (which is a lot) and doing Site-related stuff. And honestly, I suck at editing. For real. Sure, I know the rules, and I can follow intricate talks about them and yeah, I've read some of the CMOS... but I suck at editing. I really do.

Can you read my story?

Maybe. But I can’t promise I will. It completely depends on time, and again, I have little of it. I might take a quick look, but if it’s not something that grabs me immediately... well, I’ll most likely call it quits. It has nothing to do with the quality of your story, mind, but sometimes, if I’m in the mood for a type of story, I usually go to read the stuff of people I know I enjoy reading. If I approved your story, chances are that I read it already if I liked it.

Can you stop people from being mean?

No. There’s something that you must understand: it’s the internet. And here we get trolled all the time, and people say nasty things and people hate your stories and all that jazz. Most of the time it’s likely to be juvenile trolling, and if you feed the troll, it gets bigger.

People are entitled to their opinions, and it irks me as much as anyone to be painted as something I’m not... but, unless they’re chasing me down to my page and putting stuff in it, I really can’t care less other than maybe politely asking them to stop. But if you’re the one hunting them down just to see what they’re saying about you? Well, you’re a) feeding them and b) most likely not going to like what you find.

If I give you a story idea, can you write it for me?

No. Your idea might be good, but I’m not writing it for you.

Will you write a blog about my story?

If I really like it I will, but only if I like it enough to post something about it. I write to promote the work I like, but asking me to blog about your story when I haven’t even read it is also a bit unfair to me and to you.

What is the best way to communicate with you?

Mostly PM. If it’s site-related it HAS to be PM; don’t post site questions in my user page.

Do you treat people like you treat Obnoxious Writer and Clueless User?

No. Those guys are special cases.

What is your involvement with the LOEG?

I’m one of the founding members.

Can you add me to the LOEG?

Not really. Anyone added is usually done on the basis of their work and the choice is also usually agreed upon by other members.

Am I allowed to write a story/side-story of any of your works?

Yes. Just don’t expect me to treat it as canon to my stories. So, if you write your own alternative story set in The Three Sister’s universe, you can add it to the Group I made for that, and I might even mention it in my blog (okay, I will, I’m a sucker for derivative works based on my own) but that’s as far as it gets.

Would you follow me if I ask nicely?

No. It’s not personal, but, there’s reasons I follow who I follow.

Can you help me become a mod for Fimfiction?

Nope. Absolutely not. Don’t ask me about it. This is knighty’s site and it’s his call, first and foremost. At best I might get asked if I know you, but I have nothing to do with the recruiting of staff members.

Why do you hate human!pony stories so much?

Where to start? It’s a personal thing. Completely personal. A story might be awesome, but to me, if the characters have always been humans, it’s simply NOT FIM. It’s as departed as you can get from it and usually what we get is archetypes of the characters.

I’m not changing my mind on this. You can like them. But I don’t.

Why don’t you put a stop to stories that have [insert dislike of choice]?

First, because they’re not breaking any rules. Second, because unlike certain stories, they are not there to piss you off. If you don’t like princesst, don’t read it. If you think Twilestia is icky and unnatural, don’t read it. There are subject matters that I don’t agree with that don’t break the rules, and as such I have to let them go. I’m not responsible for changing the rules and most of the time, the stories which might offend you are things that are avoidable.

Having said that, I do have a limit and absolute crap lacking storytelling or sense or done in a manner to provoke and spread hate do tend to annoy me. And I do have the authority to fail and even delete them, although rest assured that I will at least ask other mods for their opinions before I erase the filth out of the site.

How come you blog about certain author’s stories? Since you’re a mod, doesn’t that mean that you’re endorsing them as a member of staff?

When I make a site-post, meaning that it pops up on the front page, I’m speaking as a member of staff. Therefore, what I’m saying there is official and doesn’t necessarily just reflect my opinion. There are certain exceptions, like the Reviews, which I post only as part of a service, but with which I am not further involved.

When I post my rants, or my observations or opinions in my own blog that doesn’t appear on the site? That’s my personal thoughts on something. It doesn’t reflect the position of the staff in any way shape or form and sometimes, as much as I hate something and say it there, it has no relevance in my job as a mod, since the rules come first.

Why do you write How-To guides?

Honestly, their purpose is twofold: one, to relieve some stress at blatant ignorance of the rules, and two, as an honest attempt to point out through a bit of comedy, what people tend to ignore. I try and also add helpful advice for authors there as well by getting help from other authors which have proven to be successful in what they do so that the views there are not simply my own.

Why do you write ‘Rants about Fan Fiction’?

Because I care about fan fiction and our community as authors and readers. I believe there’s more to it than what we have let ourselves believe and that it has more value than it’s given by our peers in other media.

What do your badges mean?

Basically, that I like your work. A lot.

Nope. Suggest it and if it’s something  that is really needed, I might use the idea. But, just because you don’t like something, I’m not going to write a how-to on it.

No. If I  review a story, I probably read it on my free time and I felt that I should share it. I seldom do reviews, I don’t think I’m particularly good at them anyway.

Like I’ve mentioned, I’m barely involved.

Why do you care so much about fan fiction?

Because it’s as legitimate as fan art and fan music, but we treat it as if it isn’t.

Is writing all you know how to do?

I know a lot of things. So no, I can do a lot of other things as well. I just love writing.

Just how many angry PMs do you get on average?

Thankfully I cannot say it’s “4 out of 10” or something like that. But, periodically I will get angsty, angry and petulant PM’s arguing with my decision on something.

Depends on who writes them. Most of the time they’re whiny.

Why won’t you listen to me and make this place more like I’m suggesting?

It’s not my site. And even then, some of the suggestions I get are ridiculous or don’t even have anything to do with how this site is run.

Why do you write so many blogs?

I am an extremely lucky individual that has a lot of amazing followers in this site... so I like interacting with them and sharing my thoughts.

When will you update X story?

When I write the chapter. I’m really not tied to any schedule, I really can only write so much due to RL interference and the need to do other things. I won’t force myself to write if I’m going to get tired of it; that’s the most surefire road to getting tired of it, and if I do, you’ll never read the next chapter.

Sadly, yes. I have at least received 10 pms of each of the above questions save for 1, which I thought I'd get out of the way now.
