An Hours-Late Announcement · 5:39am Feb 15th, 2020
Hot on the heels of finishing my previous entry into the AppleDash contest, I started wondering if there was another route I could take when it comes to investigating and examining the absolute glory that is this precious duo, and preferably one that is more focussed on their relationship itself than To Belong was. So, I thought and thought, and I eventually remembered listening to this audio reading done by either ObabScribbler or TheLostNarrator, the title of which I forget, but it was about the Main 6 surviving a battle with a monster or two, and hunkering down in a tavern to lick their wounds and reminisce.
In this story, there was a spot of AppleDash, and how it was portrayed is something I'm only just realising I've taken to heart when I write them myself: best friends who never really stopped being just that. And I thought to myself, "you know, what if it was just them, by themselves, and not the other girls? Would it change what they'd talk about? How they'd act?"
And that, dear readers, is how Waiting for a Train was born. It involves AJ and RD having a meaningful conversation on what they've just survived, what it means for them, their future, and the aftermath of what they've decided to do, in order to keep what they cherish safe. I feel and I'm worried that it might feel a bit too same-y to stuff I've written before, what with slice of life drama seeming to be my niche more and more, but I think what I've done a good job in representing how they feel about each other and their place in the world.
If anyone can point me to the story I mentioned, I'd be most thankful, because I want to credit it in the long description for being a positive influence.
Thanks for the additional information. :)
I'm afraid that description isn't ringing much of a bell with me, though, sorry; good luck finding it!
I know what story you’re talking about. But I forgot the name. I remember the thumbnail though. i’m gonna look it up, if i find it i’ll post it here.
Found it. The story is called Fighting Scars by Mojaramask and it was removed from Fimfic. No wonder why I couldn’t find it.
Edit: I also found the audio reading by ObabScribbler :)
