Do you think illustrations would enhance your reader experience with my story?
Since childhood, I've always been enamored with the idea of producing graphic novels since my skill and patience with the written word has limits. Graphic novels offer a path that does not simply circumvent this frustration, but marries it with a love for the visual arts. Obviously, it's not exactly an option for me to turn The Doom That Comes To Canterlot into a graphic novel at this point (I'd love to, but I don't have the kind of time or skill-set yet), but ever since including Sunny's illustration in a chapter, I've been hungry to produce more. However, I'm bad with these kinds of decisions.
So I thought it may be fun to include you, my readers, in this process of choosing.
I'm beginning with an edit I've made to the author's note in the Prelude chapter. To summarize, if you can make an excellent suggestion of a song to cap off any chapter, even the chapters that have already received a song, you will be granted your choice of any one scene from current or future TDTCTC content for me to illustrate. If I feel I cannot do the scene justice or is too ambitious for my talents, I will commission a quality artist.
Secondly, I'm now open to votes and discussion for Chapter 1. If there was any moment or scene you'd like to see illustrated, please let me know. It costs you nothing and does not leave you ineligible to claim the prize for suggesting a great song.
As a final note about song suggestions, if you provide a track with lyrics that fit the story well enough to foreshadow future events, I may give you a hint, so long as it won't ruin your experience. This is a mystery-thriller after all, and it would be a shame to kill the suspense with egregious spoilers.
That's all, thank you for reading and huge thanks to those who've upvoted my story so far; I really appreciate the gesture. It lets me know I've done something right at least and gives me a ton of encouragement to see that very flattering ratio. And of course, big thanks to my editor, Schattendrache. You've been a huge help in the short time we've worked together.
