...But that was absolutely the most painful thing I have ever, EVER, sat through.
That was a horrifying combination of the worst of Star Wars and 70's variety television.
I have informed my friend in no uncertain terms that she is never to bring that disc into my home again.
Good to see you survived at least.
What did you think would happen?

I honestly wasn't sure.
But that is the angriest I've ever been at my own curiosity.
George Lucas predicted VR porn with that scene where Itchy is getting serenaded by Diahann Carroll.
My favorite part of the special is that there are no subtitles for the Wookies. It's 45 minutes of literal mouth noises.
Imagine what it was like to watch this live in 1978. I wonder how the piblic reacred to it back then.
It could’ve been worse.

From what I read, reception was just as negative, and was quickly forgotten about until the 90's.
It was never rebroadcast or released in any official capacity. Harrison Ford claims he doesn't even remember doing it. Mark Hamill has admitted he has never seen the whole thing. Carrie Fisher asked George for a copy so she had something to put on when she wanted people to leave a party.

I'm too afraid to ask you how it could be.
What are you talking about?
I saw it and loved/cringed at Harvey Korman selling porn to Chewbacca's grandfather.

The Star Wars Holiday Special.
Happy Life Day!

Oh.
Sounds like to decided to give that brain aneurysm a try after all. I suppose that’s one way to welcome in the new year. On the plus side, it can only get better from here.

Title text: You think it's so legendarily bad that you'll torrent it and sit through it just for the kitschy nerd cred. I, too, once thought as you did.
You poor... poor.. poor little soul... You are now scarred for life.

I think it was said Lucas went out of his way to reclaim all the copies and burn them.
(and yet we still have Howard Duck)
