The Force is Dead · 6:47am Jan 1st, 2020
So, I just saw The Rise of Skywalker. And given how most Star Wars fans hated it, I am no exception. But I won't type out furiously like everyone else does, or convey screaming at the top of my lungs through all caps text. No, what I feel is more along the lines of sorrow than rage. I feel sorrow because despite dying, Palpatine won. Rey may not have struck him down in hatred, but the last member of the Skywalker bloodline died to revive her. Rey is the emperor's granddaughter, and she takes the Skywalker name at the end of the movie. She took the coward's way out by taking the name of a good man who redeemed himself with his sacrifice to restore balance to the force. A man who died for NOTHING. Rey is told to "not be afraid of who she is". She defeated the dark past that is her grandfather the emperor, so why not work to make the name one that inspires hope, like Skywalker. But no. She takes the Skywalker name. Every battle the Rebel Alliance fought was pointless since Palpatine was alive after Return of the Jedi. Anakin's sacrifice and redemption was all for nothing. All the events of the original trilogy were rendered pointless because of The Rise of Skywalker.
As I type this, I know there's probably numerous amounts of people who'll say I'm just a "hater" or "sexist because I feel threatened by Rey being so powerful". Or the most amusing of all, "It spreads the message that anyone can change, and Luke and Rey are the same character." Yeah, no. That message has already been seen in the original trilogy with Luke redeeming his father. Furthermore, Luke is not the same as Rey. He trained on Dagobah with Yoda, and he lost against Vader on Cloud City. He had to work and improve beyond the simple farmboy he was, and his hard work and training paid off when he became a Jedi. Rey, on the other hand, somehow knows how to wield a lightsaber despite never wielding one, is able to hold her own against Kylo Ren, and is somehow able to pull off mindtricks effortlessly. You could argue that it's because of her bloodline, but that makes everything she accomplishes far less impressive or earned. There's a difference between being talented, and just being OP. Again, I refer to Luke Skywalker. But what I really hate about the sequel trilogy most is the same reason I lament the prequels: They could have been great.
I get upset when something's bad like anyone else does, but I feel hurt when I see the makings of something great suffocated by all the bad. One way to drastically improve the sequel trilogy would've been to make Finn the main character. Just think: A stormtrooper wakes up from his programming and sees the evil he's been doing. And then, he feels the force, guiding him towards the right path, but he's lost and confused. So, he seeks out Luke Skywalker to learn the ways of the Jedi. Under Luke's training, he becomes a jedi and works to fight against the very evil he once served. It all could have worked for Finn, and he was even marketed as the main character when trailers for TFA rolled out. Or better yet, Disney could have followed the sequel outlines George Lucas had in mind.
Sadly, neither will come to pass. I love Star Wars. It's been a fixture in my life since my parents showed me a glimpse of The Empire Strikes Back on TV. I felt the force live as I watched all the movies, read the comics, and tuned into the Clone Wars animated series. But now, the sequel trilogy has killed everything that has been built. The expanded universe is non-canon, and the original trilogy retconned to be completely pointless. The force is dead. May it rest in peace in our memories. We can't undo what Disney's done, but we CAN refuse to further empower them. I will not be viewing any future Star Wars movies, or buying any of Disney's merchandise. Instead, I'm going to make a bag of popcorn, crack open a cold soda, and watch the original trilogy while forgetting all about the sequels. They say you should focus on the happy times instead of the bad, and that's just what I'm going to do. Anakin's sacrifice restored balance to the force, and the galaxy was rid of the emperor. Luke established a new jedi order, and Han and Leia happily married. And they all lived happily ever after.
Well... I can say something that will give you more hope, ever heard of The Mandalorian?

Its the only solace we have in this sea of garbage Star Wars content. Plus Baby Yoda is a pure good boi. (I know he's not actually Yoda)

I know of it. I have heard how good it is.. . . . But I REFUSE to give Disney any more money.

Well, you can watch it for free on this site

Thank you. But I've been pretty busy with my stories and trying to give them a Star Wars feel, so I might not be able to watch it.

You worried that it will be woke? It is ANYTHING but woke and the good news is that it is actually MADE by Star Wars fans. And Dave Feloni is the executive producer and the main director of the series is Jon Favreau and the best news is that the two don't like the Disney Wars Trilogy and threw shade at The Rise of Skywalker. And the best news of all, George Lucas was involved with The Mandalorian.

You misunderstand, I'm not worried at all. I REALLY am busy with my latest story and have been working to give it a bit of a Star Wars feel with references and the clashes between Burst Stream and Blitz Surge. Heck, I really want to write a chapter with an opening crawl that precedes the action.

Okay, good^^

Btw, I don't know if you caught all of my Star Wars references in EoH Evolution Season 6, but please tell me if my writing has the Star Wars feel to it.
