…comin’ down, a sunny day.
From Misty Breeze to CCR songs, what has all this talk of rain throughout the story been about, and why? Let me explain my references. Spoilers, catch up before reading further.
As early as Chapter 1, weatherwoman Misty Breeze has been a recurring player in the ORE News segments of this story, a character taken from the episode “Weathering Heights” of Loonatics Unleashed. At first it was just that, a fun cutaway gag, but it soon became more, with her one-time fill-in Paula Haze (from the same episode) giving a very different forecast that ended up reflecting the Mirror World’s stormy weather in Chapter 7, which was accompanied by Turmoil dispatching multiple aquatic Mirror Monsters. One of which helped play out a parallel of one character’s fears: Sunset. Also accompanying were lines from CCR’s song “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” warning of a calm before the storm, and later that, when it’s over, it’ll “rain a sunny day”. Sun. The clues make more sense now, don’t they? The symbolism took a break during the FNaF arc, but after Turmoil’s surprise attack this last chapter left Sunset vented, the scene ends on lines of CCR’s other rain song, “Who’ll Stop the Rain”. This rain is the ‘storm’ that has been coming to cover up the ‘sun’ since the beginning. And it hasn’t let up yet…
