Hi everyone!
Just want to make a quick hiatus update post.
I'm going to make this quick and easy with our handy-dandy bullet points conversation with myself!
- Mono!! Back from hiatus??
- Unfortunately, no, dear anon. Though I've done a lot of progress in some respect, including severely limiting my time on fimfiction, which has helped with my anxiety, some other bad stuff has happened that has unfortunately impacted my faith/love towards pony writing. But I'm working on it!
- MONO THAT'S TERRIBLE ARE YOU DONE WRITING FOREVER????
- I just said I'm working on it!!!
- But wait, what about that Luna/Daring story you posted??? are you not on hiatus?? mono, why do you play with our feelings like this???
- No, no, I am, but that story was a jinglemas one, and one I'm posting maybe next week was also jinglemas. Those don't count into my hiatus.
- Oh, okay. Well, hopefully the hiatus ends soon! What can we expect once it's done?
- Oh, the usual fair, you know. TEK, Caelum, Crimson, and maybe a few raritwi oneshots once I get over my current hangup on how people probably are sick of me because all I write is RariTwi and I bet they're sick of my raritwi.
- What? Mono, jesus christ, I thought we were over your weird hangups on people being sick of your raritwi!!! how many times do we have to tell you!!!

- Sorry... Well, I do have good news though!! I wrote an original story and sent it to a magazine!! It's about a magical dwarf and talks about domestic abuse.
- ... Honestly, I had questions, but on the other hand that's absolutely something you'd write.
- Thanks! Hopefully it gets in, it's honestly one of my better stories ever. I did that thing I do where I build-up stuff and then I hit you with a line that's like a train hitting you and it hurts and stuff 'cause it hit you and stuff.
- Hopefully your story was more eloquent than that sentence.

No, but seriously. When I was laid up in the hospital two years back all I had was my phone and your sweet and wonderful Raritwi romances to help me recover.
My romance bookshelf might as well be better named "Incredible romances and I guess one or two other fics that someone other than Monochromatic did."
Take a break to avoid burn out yes. But never think it's because we are sick of your writing!

Mono, if you didn't write RariTwi, we wouldn't even know RariTwi could be a thing. If you don't write RariTwi, nopony will, and if nopony writes RariTwi, where will we get our RariTwi fix?
You've got us all hooked on RariTwi... addicted to the SugarPlum Ship... entrapped by the entwined scent of vanilla and lavender... we can't just quit that sort of thing cold griffon. We're lifers now.

Yeah, a lot of people on this site have stories, genres, or ships they are well known for. WandererD's crossovers, Oroboro's EQG romance stories, Multiple people like sticking to Changling stories. Then there's people who get super well known for one story or series, they keep writing and try to either find new success elsewhere or explore that success and make a series off that success.
Mono is clearly well known for the Rari Twi romance stories, yes TEL is one of the biggest ones but there are multiple other stories by Mono that people really love and wish there were more of like The Bodyguard shorts. Look through the most liked stories on Mono's stories list you have to go to page 4 of 6 to get any story under 300 likes, that's 75% of Mono's work in the 300+ likes and in those stories yeah TEL is in the top spot but you also got, Once in a Purple Moon (which isn't even a romance so no you're not a one genre wonder Mono you just like writing romance and you're really good at it), The Sphinx's Riddle, Multiple Bodyguard story's, The Interview all in the 1000's with Colors of the Soul and Injuring Eternity in the 800's as runners up who really can't be understated.

I'm torn. I want to reassure you that nobody is upset at the amount of Raritwi that we see, much like nobody is really upset about getting that second scoop of ice cream, but I know there are insensitive twits out there who just cannot stand to see the world's most adorable bookworm and the world's most dramatic designer go through their awkward but irresistible mating dance.
Screw 'em. You're fine. Heck, you're awesome.
I did a full on review of The Enchantined Library and I only do that for fics I like or dislike to the point of it being a warning to anyone who finds it. TEL is the first fic I gave a Platinum 11 to and is one of the best fics I've read. Period. If Raritwi is what you're good at and you love writing it, then keep it up. I want to see more of what you have to offer Mono and if I'm reading all of these other comments right, I'm not the only one.

Hello I read your dwarf story. I got it immediately, way before the big reveal, you caught the right feeling of hesitation and walking into a mental mine field. It was such a good story ;-; I hope it gets accepted.
I know the feeling of being terrified of looking at your own work again, re-reading and remembering all the things that went wrong. It's a painful process but I hope you know that we love your work, and we'd rather you be happy with it too. Take whatever time you need.
Also uh your RariTwi single-handedly converted me to a hopeless romantic, it's not even a question of course I would love more RariTwi

Thanks for the update. Also, Raritwi was one of my least favorite ships until I started reading your stuff. Right now it is about 3rd fav ship.
I want you to write things you enjoy writing! If that's RariTwi, then that's great! If it's not RariTwi, then that's great as well! Though I must admit I have a slight preference for pony stories so I hope you write more of those at some point.

She said it was "cancelled until further notice", and sort of a Hiatus+ for that story, where she wasn't certain if she wanted to get back to it, but also wasn't 100% sure she'd just abandon it. So I'm holding out hope that it continues. It was one of my favourites of hers.
