Well, this was a fun one to write and it makes perfect sense in this cntext. This is a short one, but very important for the later chapters. Simply put this is one of the possible outcomes Todeskampf. Give it a read, this is the order and rank known as Pflicht.

The Pflicht is the command, order and rank given to the losers of Todeskampf that have not received death. It is a mercy granted to them, but can even be seen as a far worse punishment to the loser then death. If the battle goes too far, the word can be called out either by the winner or loser. The stakes or the battle change dramatically. The death is stopped, any severly wounds are to be quickly healed. And the one that was closest to winning gets to decide the fate of the loser.
Simply put the loser can have a quick death, or serve as slave to the winner for their entire life. This is the call of the Pflicht. An absolute duty to the winner as their servant or slave in any form they deem fit for the loser. Ranging from a simple guard to as twisted as sexaul slave or even being the winner’s literal floor. The unicorn loser have to take whatever command the winner give not matter the kindness or depravity or even humiliation.
