    Redemption

So back in 2017, I wrote a story called Lost in the Static, which I've tagged for this blog. It was a story about Starlight Glimmer ending up trapped in a world ruled by Discord during her battle with Twilight. One of the biggest regrets I had with this story is that I became worried about how to end it. It was my first foray into the world of darkfics, and that inexperience definitely

Art for The Place I Feel Safest!

    Hey everypony,

I just wanted to share some art that was created by my friend's girlfriend for my story, The Place I Feel Safest. To date, this is my only story to be featured on EQD and it's one I am actually proud of for a change.

    Here's the art!

What's your favorite video game? · 2:14pm Nov 28th, 2019

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

Today, I'll be spending the day with just my wife (since my family lived a few states away), so I'll likely just end up doing some gaming through the night. Which leads into my question:

What is your favorite video game of all time, and why?

Mine is one I'm sure everyone who has ever been alive since 2001 is familiar with.

Halo 2 was such a groundbreaking game, and even today is still as much fun as it was back on that fateful launch night in 2004. It had a kick-ass rock soundtrack, tons of great one-liners from well-written characters, beautiful level design highlights by the ambience and sky-boxes looming in the background, but most important it's the most influential shooter game of all time.

I know that that is a title people will typically give to the original Doom, and I do agree that Doom was groundbreaking. But in regards to online play, Halo 2 is the game we have to thank for the matchmaking system every game releases with today, as well as the idea of being able to customize a lobby just for you and your friends to play very specific game modes. Halo 3 and beyond really perfected that concept, but Halo 2 will always be the grandfather of matchmaking.

Plus it helps that I used to play it competitively, so Halo 2 is the only game I've made money off of.

So what's your favorite?

Bloodborne because I love the feeling you get when you finally beat a boss the has killed you Over 6 time.

Favorite video game... aww damn this is hard. Hmm...

Well there are some Nancy Drew games I like, those are fun. Cuphead is a new favorite of mine, super fun. L.A Noire. GTA 5... hmm...

Though absolute favorite... aww this is hard.

Cuphead and L.A. Noire are fantastic. L.A. Noire fulfills all my fantasies of being an investigator!

hehe. Such a great game.

... also every time I look at the Black Caesar case, I keep getting hungry for popcorn. :rainbowwild:

LittleBigPlanet 1.

I'd have to say either Alien: Isolation or the original Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005.

The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. N64 not 3DS.
The game world feels just so alive. Every NPC has its own little life and story.
And it's just fun to role around as an goron, or dolphin jump through the bay.

Final Fantasy X, but Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a close second.

Truthfully, I have a lot of favorite games, but I'd have to say The Lion King for SNES. Not only was it a big part of my childhood, but my grandparents bought it for me and my brother on Easter many, MANY years ago

Metal Gear Solid 3. Never has gameplay and narrative been blended so well together by the medium. Not only does it actually make you feel like a covert agent trying to survive the Russian wilderness, it has ridiculous and fantastical elements blended into the story in a way that doesn't feel too outlandish and actually adds a significant amount of enjoyable action around it that makes sense. Unique and interesting boss battles, satisfying stealth sections with the option to go guns blazing, mechanics that actually lend to the setting and premise, not to even mention some of the best characters to ever appear in a video game. It's like 007 meets Bear Grylls in a Cold War freakshow that the world never knew it needed until it had it.

For the sheer amount of joy it has brought me over the years, Minecraft will always be my favorite game. Yes, I'm a basic bitch. I'm okay with that.

If we're gonna kick it old school, though, my favorites growing up were Spongebob: Battle For Bikini Bottom and The Spongebob Movie Game. Those things kicked ass and still slap to this day. The best story-based game I've ever played was Night In The Woods.

There have been a lot of games that I've loved playing over the years, so I guess I'll fall back on one that's nostalgic and say Super Mario 64.

Hmm. I'm gonna cheat a bit, as it's a three-way tie between games in completely different genres.

Shooter: Wolfenstein 3D

Simulation: SimCity 3000

(Point of pride: I was part of the SC3000 forum where we dug deep into the mechanics of the game engine, looking for loopholes to abuse. My research and testbed cities provided a lot of the basis for Magnasanti.)

Sandbox: Minecraft (alpha/beta versions, I don't care for the new stuff.)

Chrono Trigger - Super Nintendo
Premise, battle engine, plot line, side quests that matter (was rare in those days) and the music, I still listen to the music.
This is IMHO the best game ever made.

Bro, I fuck with the SpongeBob Movie Game, I still have it for my OG Xbox.

It's extremely difficult to pick just one, because my favourite games are all so different. But my favourite is probably Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations for the deep, complex, affecting, funny, and overall masterful story and the incredibly written characters. Close behind (in no particular order) are The World Ends With You, Phoenix Wright Spirit of Justice, Fire Emblem Awakening (though that might be because I'm playing it for the first time right now), Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and probably several more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (either version). The game fixes a lot of problems that were in the first Prime, and it has a great plot to it. The only two gripes I have are the endgame key hunt macguffins and the fact that it didn't get enough recognition due to being released at the same time as Halo 2.

Metroid Prime 2 was excellent, and I do agree. It released the same month as Halo 2 and Half-Life 2, tough times.
