Finally—finally got my dang dentist appointment on Thursday.

Actually had do some sort of temporary patch thingy where they stuffed the tooth full of antibiotics because the roots were so infected. Let me tell you, friction burned tooth emalj and old puss? Not a fragrance I'd recommend.

Still have the actual root-canal to be done... but that's January's Lord Of Dorkness' problem to deal with. Sucks to be you, future me!

Oh, and mom got an impulse to clean out the bathroom last Tuesday, and found a whole tiny ecosystem behind the washer & dryer composed of white mold, black mold, filth and spiders. Fun for the whole family!

Honestly, it's already feeling like this... mist on the edge of my brain is clearing up. Even through the fatigue of nearly an hour in the dentist's chair I haven't felt this alert...

Well, all of 2019, frankly.

So... yeah, hopefully I should start to really start recovering soon. Just thought I'd share with you guys.

Oh wow, that sounds liek it's been hectic, stressful, and painful, am glad to hear you're coming out the other side of it though.

Well, that's sufficiently horrifying. At least you are hopefully feeling more up to providing words again. I like words.

Honestly, aside from the dentist's chair itself, November's honestly been quite the relife so far. Real stones of my chest type stuff.

Was genuinely starting to worry what the fuck was wrong with me. Where'd all my energy and creativity had gone.

Honestly almost feels a bit anticlimactic that it was (hopefully) 'just' an infection & nasty mold... but~ in matters of health, I'd rather be boring as dirt, must admit. :pinkiehappy:

Thanks.

Suck to be past you as well.

Helped a buddy of mine clean out some spiders and white mold in his basement once. Probably shouldn't have done it the way we did, though. Propane torches are useful for many a thing, but should be used with caution in a wood frame house. :rainbowderp:

As an aside, before anyone gets on me for health hazards, we had gas-masks/respirators on at the time that covered the whole face and other protections from fungal infection.

Still though, probably should have thought of something else there.:facehoof:

Don't use them for de-icing your roof, that's for sure. That one didn't end so well. At least the Darwin Award was honorary.
Still, "kill it with fire" does have its place, especially with molds.

Just a reminder, I really liked the Fourscore-verse one where he's part-Trixie, the older Dresden crossover (where else can you say ponies are eldritch beings?), a certain story about an alicorn OC, and the crazy one with transhumanism best. But writing any of them would be fine with me!

Admittedly, I have the craziest idea for my own story, but I am having fun finding time and willpower to write it myself, aside from the joys of figuring out how to do it justice without it ending up some crap story about an alicorn OC :scootangel: (funny enough, that's the one thing I probably don't have. Just a really OP "pegasus" with an interesting idea of how to channel weather magic...)

I have a nice pseudo-physics-based explanation for basically all of the magic used there, and it's a combination between a crossover (though mostly for ideas more than characters) and an alternate-history interpretation of how ponies work and came to be.

Well, obviously ponies are data-collectors deployed by Shards (have you heard of Worm? No? You may want to read their entry on the wiki) who made some rather cogent arguments (they rhymed with "kablam") with the Overmind. They managed to solve the energy problem (core taps FTW) when they ran into the humans of the Third Imperium (see Weber's Mutineer's Moon trilogy, which is free since Baen is awesome). This ended about as well as expected when the Great Filter came back to visit. Sooo, Faust (the decoded name of the AI piloting the planetoid later known as Equus' moon) went and set up a rather interesting enclave for the survivors. An as-yet-undecided enemy took out most of the civilization and tech base (and the weather-net, and orbital controls...), and Faust's contact was lost with her avatar. Most of this stuff doesn't show up beyond scene-setting and foreshadowing.

Cue modern-day Equestria. There's some tech, enough that the appearance of a Bolo (Keith Laumer's work enters the fray) would not be too much of an upheaval, but most of it's hard-to-build magitek or lost relics like the three Castles or the Elements of Harmony. Through also-undecided-so-far, the Bolo gets woken back up, stuffed in a blank pegasus (the Nightmare Cultists really should have read the manual) and has a bit of "fun" figuring out the corrupted firmware which wasn't really meant to work with an AI in the first place.

A lot of fluff and some fix-ficcing later, the Elements of Harmony find out that they are pieces of the sundered Adminstrator Shard, and with Faust's help, use its access to reconfigure the ponies-as-Shard-avatars, and release the safeties that kept them contained in the pocket realm containing Equus. Faust wasn't originally pleased about the fact that the minds of the ponies weren't integrated too well with the Shards providing their powers, and wanted something a bit more durable and a jailbreak on their OS. There follows a bit of a kerfuffle about the laws not really being able to handle everyone being a princess (Alicorn+ is the better description), but the ability to consciously use the empathic (technically Shard communications) nets (to blame for Case Roseate Pastry (if power and knowledge/sensory data is shared among willing friends, and Pinkie has befriended the entire town...), Changelings, and Heartsongs) makes the issue of voting mostly moot.

There's also the matter of the Achuultani (said Great Filter of before) being mostly gone or reformed now (as in canon, and aside from Tirek, who's a bit ... warped), but the ponies didn't know that. To tie the setting together better, they were also headed by the one Bolo that couldn't stay loyal to the colonies of Man. It turns out that Melconian reverse-engineering isn't the best for your psyche. Anyway, the First Imperium (it's said that there were three before the Precursors Fourth Imperium left Dahak around our Earth) was wiped out by the Melconians, the second and third by the efforts of the Achuultani and MasterComp, and the fourth by the canon bioplague. The "fifth" is around at the same time this story takes place, and the epilogue may include a rather confusing day for them. It involves a solar system dropping by to visit, after picking up the hypercom message from the lost children of book three.

That's actually the summary.

did the appointment go well?

Kinda?

Again, the tooth is only partially done with my next appointment in January. Still, I've had some real improvement even from the temporary fix, so so far it's been a success.
