An attempt at poetry · 12:46am Nov 15th, 2012
Something I had to write the other day for an English class assignment. ^0^ It had to be about a 'journey through life' and we had to use 3 specific poetic devices. I think it came out pretty good. Not the best; a lot of the lines took a lot of effort to write. ;u; Usually when I write poetry I have to be in the right mood and then the words seem to write themself and everything turns out yummy *u*
My favorite part about this thinger I wrote is the parallel structure. I think that's the coolest and most beautiful thing ever, how so many things use that element and you don't even realize it most of the time :D
So yeah, thoughts and criticism would be totally awesome! The final draft of this isn't due till Friday so I can stll fix it if nessecery c:

Let Go, and Smile for Me
On that night, I slept
dreaming of him.
On that day, I wept
thinking of him.
For the longest time, I blamed myself,
And was trapped in this place
That's as dark as night.
I refused to let
A shred of light
Into this nightmare
Of my own creation.
And whilst I dreamed, I asked myself,
'Where do angels go when they die?'
As I pondered this,
A new question arose;
One I should have been asking instead-
'Why do angels die?'
There's no easy answer
To a something like that.
But, soon I learned,
That sometimes, hoping isn't enough.
And sometimes, you just have to accept that you did your best.
No matter how hard it is to let go of your angel,
I must.
And instead of asking questions,
That will only cause hurting,
Just accept the fact that-
'He's finally happy now.'
And maybe, he wants you to be happy too.
So, smile for him,
And smile for yourself.
*tear* It's beautyful! I love it. This poem is everything that's right in this world.
