Director's cut: "When Dating a Sunset..." chapter 3: Deciding what to do · 8:29pm Nov 3rd, 2019
When I started this story, I thought what would happen in this chapter would have been in the 2nd chapter, and what happened at the end of the 2nd chapter was how I thought the 1st chapter would end. This was a chapter that made me see that the story would be longer than I thought it would be. More on that in the director's cut of a future chapter.
First, about the part with Twilight Sparkle still being clueless about Eric's crush after the others put two and two together. That was one of the first things I thought about having in this part of the story, even before I wrote the first chapter. Second, the part about Rarity commenting that she and the others being worried about Eric and Twilight spending too much time together was a remnant of a running joke in the prequel. If you read it, you know about it already. But if not, it's about how some of the Mane 6 thought Eric might have spent too much time with Twilight because he's picked up a few of her traits and habits.
Compared to Twilight, Starlight Glimmer is more direct, so this is why she had the role of talking to Eric in his bedroom later in the chapter. On a related note, It's more fun than I thought it would be writing how I think Starlight might be like as a big sister. What do you think of my take of this side of Starlight?
I thought it would be more interesting if Sunset Shimmer had a dilemma of sorts of her own, not just be oblivious to Eric's feelings toward her at this point of the story. This is partly why she will want to ask Eric what's wrong in chapter 4 without being sure of how to do it, as Eric's struggling to ask her out.
Lastly, the scene with Sunset and "Sci-Twi" being alone, without any of the others, was me having a little fun with the "SciTwiShimmer" ship, or whatever you want to call that ship. This might be the last time I can do it, in my Eric "Buggie" Reed stories anyway.
