    1950s Sci-Fi Review Bundle (Part 2/?)

So, uh, been a hot minute since I followed up on that little 50's movie review thread I started a while back, huh? Guess my narrative writing isn't the only thing that suffers from sloth. Happy 65th Birthday, Godzilla · 6:38pm Nov 3rd, 2019

On this day in 1954, Godzilla made his official cinematic debut in Japanese theaters. An allegory for the threat of nuclear weapons and the horrors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, Godzilla struck a massive chord with the people of Japan, and has been an enduring icon of monster movies ever since.

It's been a long, strange road for the King of the Monsters. He's been everything from a tragic prehistoric mutation, to an ancient guardian fighting to keep nature in balance, to even that one time when he was possessed by the ghosts of all the people the Japanese killed in World War II (I'm not kidding, GMK, look it up). Racking up a whopping total of thirty-seven films (thirty-eight counting 2020's Godzilla vs. Kong), Godzilla remains one of, if not the, longest running movie franchises in cinematic history.

Happy birthday, Godzilla. Here's to another 65 years.

Long live the king.
