Director's cut: "When Dating a Sunset..." chapter one: Denying feelings · 4:06am Oct 25th, 2019
First, it feels good to finally submit this story! I've been working on it for the last two months, and I'm currently much further ahead than chapter one; this was so I'll be able to update it regularly, and still be able to take some days off from writing.
The part with "Sci-Twi" trying to talk Eric into asking out Twilight was based on what was meant to be a last laugh in the prequel "When Dating Advice Doesn't Work..." since I wasn't planning on writing a sequel to it. In the author's note in its final chapter, Sci-Twi did a 4th wall break, saying that she'll try to talk Eric into asking out Twilight the next time she "talks" to him in their journals. Since "When Dating a Sunset..." is its sequel, I had to fit that in. I find the role reversal of the characters trying to "ship" a brony with another character quite amusing. Shipping characters is usually our job.
No major edits or changes happened in chapter one during editing, but a very late edit was to Sunset's reaction to Pinkie's "no offense" comment. Her line was originally this: "None taken, I guess. But if I keep hearing 'no offense' than one of these days..."
When it happened in "Legend of Everfree" she laughed it off, and the Sunset in this story is the version of her that's soon before "Forgotten Friendship". This fact had me take out most of the line, to have her just very slightly annoyed, even though I thought her original line was more amusing. It can be easy to not mention or leave out the EQG version of Spike in EQG stories, but I'm not going to do that. Expect to see him at least most of the time during any scenes when the whole "Human" Mane Seven, or whatever you like to call them, are together.
I can't say too much more in this director's cut to avoid spoiling anything in this story that hasn't happened in chapter one yet.
