OK, I have a problem with Season 3. I think they made a mistake with the timeline of the show. Let me explain.
King Sombra was banished 1000 years ago, right? In the flashback we see in the show, it looks like Luna and Celestia are the two that banished him.
HOWEVER
Assuming that one season=one year, Luna should not have been able to banish King Sombra. She should have been on the moon. Confused? Let me break it down more specifically.
Once again, I am assuming that one season=one year. So, Luna came back from her 1000 year banishment 3 years ago. This means that she was banished 1003 years ago. SO if King Sombra was banished only 1000 years ago, this means that Luna was on the moon and had been for 3 years. So did she come back for as long as it took to banish him, then go back to the moon?
UNLESS
Celestia and Luna have yet another sister they forgot about. She would not be the first sibling added from out of nowhere.
But I think they just made a mistake.

1000 could've been a rounded number they went with in Sombra's case. maybe he was banished 1,003 years ago.

Yeah, I somewhat noticed this but let it pass as a mistake.
But now that you pointed it out, I think (like monsterlord already pointed out) that this is due to rounding. I mean, it's still a show for children after all, and children do not remember that much stuff/point it out.
But I would love to see another sibling of the royal family. Even in books or just as a reference, but it would still be cool! I could make her evil and make her plan an attack against the two good sisters, resulting in a massive battle!

Well, I was kinda looking for a new project to do after the next fic, and I guess I have found one
I'll get on planning as soon as I can. For now I can say that it should be something totally epic!
