The Song is Ending: The end. · 1:09am Sep 27th, 2019
So... here we are.
The story's over.
It's the end.
I figured I'd encapsulate my thoughts here. It's pretty blunt what I mean by this "super deep" and "cryptic" story. But I hope it resonates with any of you still out there. Also, it's too short for a story on this site, so I put it here.
Here we go.
(The Blinking dot is an oversized cursor, FYI)
The Author, like always, was running late. Which is to say, he was running, and late. He wasn’t sure what, but a big world-ending threat was coming. And after that… something worse. An event that would rewrite the universe from scratch. He was calling it a “reboot.” But he could stop it, he could save them!
“Just gotta… keep going…” He panted. “How does… the Doctor… do this all day?” It was one corridor more, and then he'd be there. All he had to do was stop Twilight from winning. If they lost, it would buy him more time to come up with a way to stop the reboot. Two large doors stood in his way. He pushed, they stopped with only a crack- it was lodged on something. He could see it, the final showdown ending… and Twilight was winning.
“NO!” He called. “Twilight! Stop!” He pushed the door there was a loud boom and a beam of light… and the door gave way.
He was too late.
Twilight had won, and they were doomed.
“Wha… but… I couldn’t…” The Author panted. “Figures," He sighed, sitting down. “The one time it really matters, I still couldn’t do anything. I never really did contribute anything to anyone.” Tears filled his eyes. Celestia took notice.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“It’s over.”
“And?” She asked.
“It’s over, and I didn’t do anything. I could have done so much… but I didn’t. Now, it’s over… and I’ll have contributed nothing.”
“What do you mean? You’ll be able to contribute somewhere else.” She smiled.
“But I can’t!” The Author cried. “The universe is gonna get rebooted. We’re all gonna…” He paused. “The story’s over.” Celestia began to chuckle.
“The reboot? Why should we worry about that?”
“Because you’ll be gone! You’re gonna be erased!” He cried. “I… I don’t want this to be over… I don’t want this to end.”
“Sure, the reboot creates a new universe, but not at the expense of the old. We’ll still be right here.” Celestia smiled warmly. “And sure, song's ending… but the story never ends.” And then, he remembered some wise words from an old friend. “Everything ends, and that’s always sad…” Celestia echoed his thoughts. “But everything begins too, and that’s always happy.”
“So… then what do we do now?” The Author asked. Celestia stood up. She placed a hoof on his shoulder, and simply said:
“Tell more stories.”
THE END
Let the Chaos... Begin.
