Happy Birthday Spyro · 12:52am Sep 10th, 2019
So, now it's just been over two decades since Spyro the Dragon first came to consoles. That is... well, it's rather aging, isn't it? I admit, my first experience with Spyro was with the final game in the Legend Trilogy, and for years onwards, I'd pretty much forgotten about him. Then the Reignited Trilogy was announced, and so, well for curiosity's sake I got my hands on it. Fell in love with the old worlds almost at once, thanks to their charms and the great care given to the design. Takes you back in time, just for a little bit, to happier times, I suppose for you old boys. Funny that. Still, here's to a great 21st birthday eh Spyro? Let's hopefully see you again in 9 years eh?
So, now I ask, what's your favorite Spyro memory? Go on, feel free to share.
The earliest memory is In the final worlds of the 1st games Spyro says "You gotta believe, heh heh" and I still quote that to this day
Has it really been 20 years? My God, how time flies!
My fondest memory of Spyro games was the final battle in Spyro 2. Hell, Spyro 2 was very fun overall.
Spyro facing Cynder in ANB. Such a good battle.
Long live that loveable purple dragon.
And to answer the question;
Whilst Spyro 1 wasn’t the first ps1 game I played. It was the one that hooked me to video games. The open levels and expansive worlds. The different dragons and the catchy music.
I owe the dragon many happy memories and playing the reignited trilogy and him in CTR Nitro Fuelled has given me more.

21 actually.
The first Spyro game I ever played myself was Legend of Spyro a New Beginning for DS Lite and I absolutely loved it. After that I got season of ice and season of fire for GameBoy Advanced. I've still got those two actually. I've also got the Reignited Trilogy now. *Raises a beer* cheers to twenty one years of joy.
watching my Mother and Brother playing the Original Spyro the Dragon. My Brother and Mom almost complete it 100% but my other Mom unplug the Play Station and they lost all their progress.
Starting the first homeworld, the Artisan's world, and hearing the music gently rise up over the hills and the garden-like level design. To this day I can't think of a game that has such a subdued yet charming fairy tale style. It was enchanting.

I know right? It's like nothing else in the world. From that very first moment, you're in love.
