Me: (Shrugs) Fair enough. Red Dead's not really my thing but if that's their angle, good luck. But I'd like to watch the video now. (Presses skip and at no point does the thought of blasting feminism online cross my mind)

Yeah, some things shouldn't be taken so seriously. But I hate how youtube does now two ads in a row.
Yes, this. This makes sense.
However, you are operating under the false presumption that the internet is mature and sensible.
Also you forgot the mention the racism; "Red Dead is set in 1911, way before black people had proper rights! It's not realistic!" Reminds me of the Battlefield V trailer that way. It's a video game, calm the hell down.
It's also good to keep in mind people live to cause drama. It's absurd. and that's not even mentioning the media.

I mean, yes, it's not realistic, but the whole point of Red Dead is be a bit more on the nose with this thing.
Hell, if it was realistic, the main character would probably have died from dysentry half-way through the story.
And besides, the premise of the game is that anyone can make a name for themselves in the Wild West if they're hard enough.
I am expecting backlash so I'm getting this out of the way first.
Frenzy is not mandatory for an audience. It's on them if they make a scene.
I want that known.

I agree with you totally. Even with the example I mentioned it's understandable because Battlefield has always been about real life events. But people here are just expecting something from RDR that it just doesn't have, and probably never will have.
And while we're on the topic of realism - the Red Dead series has McCree style bullet time for God's sake! What do you bloody expect?!
