More cut content and Chapter Progress Uodate. · 9:53am Sep 1st, 2019
I should hopefully have the chapter released early on Labor Day (Monday). It is essentially done, but is in the hands of my editors and may need a few tweaks.
Just to tide people over I have some more content that really has no home. This content is post MWM by several years, and has no story to call home. I have a lot of this type of content. Don't consider it canon, as even if I had continued this was still very much concept stuff that was subject to change, but it can give some idea where I had been thinking of taking characters.
The phone rang enough that Sunset started to wonder if no one was home. Right when she was about to give up on the house phone the screen in front of her shifted, and she found herself staring at Charlotte.
"Hi, Granny Sunset," Charlotte greeted in a displeased tone. "Are you looking for Mom?"
Sunset gave the teenaged filly a warm smile. "I was actually looking for your sister. I wanted to congratulate her on getting her cutie mark."
Charlotte huffed. "Aracne, isn't here. She's out having a party with Plum Butter and Wind Cutter."
"Why aren't you with her?" Sunset asked in confusion.
"I just didn't want to go," Charlotte said petulantly. "Do you want Mom, or Mama?"
"Um, I guess I can talk to your Mom then," she replied, confused at Charlotte's mood.
Charlotte vanished from screen. "Mom! Granny Sunset's on the computer. She wants to talk to you."
A few seconds passed and Phobia appeared on screen. "Hi, Mom. Why didn't you just call me directly instead of calling the house computer?"
"I heard Tabitha got her cutie mark and wanted to congratulate her as soon as I found out. I cancelled out all my meetings for the afternoon," she explained. She tilted her head. "What's going on with Charlotte? Is she put out that her sister got her mark first?"
Phobia frowned. "A little bit. She's going through a stage right now where she's trying to figure out who she is, and her sister getting her mark first came right on the heels of Charlotte getting into a yelling arguement with me about her the fact she's always being referenced by strangers as The Warden of Fear's Daughter."
"So, being in your shadow is starting to chafe for her?" She asked.
Phobia nodded. "It seems so. Aracne--Tabby is telling everyone to call her Aracne now--doesn't seem bothered by it, embraces it even, but for Charlotte she sees it as not being seen as herself. She's a teenager, so it isn't surprising she doesn't want to have her parents constantly referenced in regards to her. I figure a lot of this will go away when she gets her own mark."
"How's her brother taking it?" Sunset asked as she levitated over a mug of coffee and took a sip.
"Alfonso is feeling the tension between his sisters and trying to lay low," Phobia said with a sigh. "Aracne invited both her siblings to come with her and celebrate, but when Charlotte got her nose out of joint he was feeling a little self conscious he was going to be the only unmarked pony there and ran off to one of his marefriend's houses for the day. It hurt Aracne's feelings that both her siblings bailed on her."
"Sounds like there is plenty of drama between your progeny," Sunset mused. "I'm glad River Spirit has taken back control of her younger siblings' care. I'll admit, taking care of Yinyu's foals was a pleasure at times, but I'm glad I'm done trying to act as foster mother to that herd."
"With Alfie...Alfonso's tendency to be found in various night filly's beds I may find myself dealing with young foals again soon," Phobia grumbled. "I have warned that colt repeatedly that if he knocks up some filly before he even has his cutie mark there will be hell to pay, but I don't think he takes me seriously. I have all but accepted that I'll probably be a grandmare before he is done with high school, but he better have some direction in life to actually support foals before he starts making them. Most of those fillies are no good for him anyway. They see him as their route to the honor of carrying a Dreamwarden's grandfoal, and their parents encourage it!"
"Sounds like you have your hooves full," Sunset replied.
"I spend a great deal of my waking hours worrying over the three of them," Phobia replied with a snort.
"It comes with being a parent," Sunset said with a grin at her daughter. "Anyway, tell Aracne that her granny called and wanted to congratulate her. I will try to be down there for the holidays, it depends on if Congress can get their heads out of their asses and pass a budget. I miss the South Carolina fall season, and I'm sick of being stuck up here for the holidays arguing about budgets. The winter up here in DC has forced me to start wearing clothes, and my trips elsewhere more often than not are to just as miserably cold locales."
There's no reason to mention Wild Growth here, but where are Jessie and Tonya in this? Sunset Blessing talks about her fostering Yinyu's foals, but shouldn't it be her and Tonya? I'm guessing Wind Cutter is Jackie, and Amanda already was calling Jordan Plum Butter before, but shouldn't Jessie be mentioned among Tabby's friends? Are they both going to die? I'm curious why Sunset Blessing was fostering Yinyu's foals to begin with. That doesn't bode well for Yinyu.
Also, Aracne? Does she have some sort of spider cutie mark?
