I think this was the biggest take-away from the episode, at least when it comes to foreshadowing.

So here are my theories on what it might be (kinda mutually exclusive):
1) Luna is going to teach Twilight some pretty heavy Moon/Dark magic.
2) Twilight is learning to become another ruler of Equestria or another nation. Whether this is also alluding to that she'll be an alicorn... no idea. (This is the only thing that fits the "turn a crisis into a test" sort of thing. Test to see if she can deal with a national crisis.)
3) I'm over-analyzing this little girl's show, and I'm looking for something that isn't there.

The foreshadowing is very obvious. Like when Twilight told Spike she'd never send him away...that seemed a bit, too important in my opinion. I'm expecting the 3rd season to be a lot more story-driven and not so much random stuff like season 1 & 2.

Don't you worry, you're not alone! We're all wondering what that is! But I'm theorizing what pretty much everyone else is. That it's the beginning of a possible entry into Luna teaching Twilight some magic of her own! And it makes perfect sense, since Twilight's talent is to utilize all kinds of magic! Who's o say she can't learn something from Luna?
That did strike me as odd. Between those, the fact that Sombra pretty much went down without a fight, the fact that nopony commented on Twilight's use of Shadow magic, the fact that when everypony was crystallized they all had new character designs, the magic blocking crystals, and the fact that they actually answered the "where are they now?" question regarding Shining and Cadence, all lead me to believe that Season three will have a larger, overarching plot.

I think they can even plan something big that they will put in the show gradually during several seasons.
That would be great, if the show became a little bit less random, with some kind of a solid storyline!
It would be more interesting for adults and for kids as well.
I've been thinking about all those hints in the premiere episodes, and after some analysis there is only one conclusion.
We WILL get a follow-up to this for sure. There are definitely going to be explanations about Twilight's future. No doubt in it.
How do I know it? Because there are two moments, that would not have been used by creators of the show, without a real reason.
Celestia said this: "She will succeed at her task. And when she does, we'll know that she is that much closer to being ready."
Such certain words can't be said without any reason. There's defenetely going to happen something related to that.
And such a hint alone makes that mysterious book (and Princesses nodding to each other in the end) a very meaningful hint.
It can't interpreted as a random stuff, that won't be explained in the future.
Simple logic.
