Them spoilers hit hard. · 1:56pm Aug 26th, 2019
I'm not going to say what they were, but I will say the epilogue really hit hard.
We got some answers as to the immediate future of them candy colored magical miniature horse folk. I guess the finality just really struck home with me.
These characters have been with us as living, breathing without aging or growth for almost ten years now. Real life doesn't work that way, of course. Every year, you change a little more. This isn't Family Guy, or The Simpsons, or any other sitcom. You chance minute to minute, episode to episode. For better, or worse.
I guess what I'm experiencing is franchise and fandom whiplash. I was prepared to see them save the day and then trot into the sunset, but we got canon endings. It kind of hurt seeing the Mane 6 grow up. From young fillies with stars in their eyes, to middle aged, or at least mature mares.
DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS.
I'm weirdly depressed that of all the screen shots I saw, Pinkie was the only mare to leave a biological legacy by the time they're all middle aged dams. That kind of hurt to see.
I know, I know. "Woman not just baby machine." I know. I'm sorry. But woman only sex that make baby. No participating cow, no calf. No dam, no baby pony. And I guess I just hoped their happy endings had them, if not find Mr. Right, then AT LEAST be single dams. At least more than one!! Twi probably can't, or won't, have kids due to her position. That left AJ, Rainbow, Rarity and Fluttershy. AJ looked like she was going to just live and die bucking apples with Big Mac moved down the way and Applebloom eventually moving on. Rainbow became a career mare. Rarity became an epic spinster. Fluttershy and Discord?.. Well........ Possibly... but.. I doubt they're even capable of reproducing. And yeah, they're fictional characters. Of course. But urgh. I kinda wanted to either know they go on to produce a bunch of kids or at least leave it ambiguous.
Naturally I'm sad that it had to end and be over. While I'm sad it ended the way it did, I can't think of any way it could end on a high note. We all knew it was coming. It was going to be bittersweet at best.
Here's hoping this good will and fandom doesn't get squashed by gen 5.
