[THE LIST] The exchange rate may be ridiculous, but at least it's in her favor · 5:00pm Aug 21st, 2019
This list is not about my favorite stories of all time. That's my favorites list and one of these days I may get around to writing reviews of those fics.
The List is about stand-out, in-progress works that deserve more love, for whatever reason. In addition to general reviews of the fics, these blog posts will tell why I picked a particular story and highlight any features the reader should look out for. Spoilers will be appropriately marked, so you'll be able to read my reviews with confidence that you'll be able to read the story itself and experience the same surprise and delight I did when I first found it.
Also, authors and fans of works will be able to submit stories. Your particular selection may not make it onto the list, and the more information you give me for why you think it should be featured, the more likely I'll be to read and post it. To submit a fiction, simply PM me through FiMFiction's link on my profile.

You Can Lead a Horse to Water...

Premise
The multiverse is vast and tremendous and filled with worlds that are just similar enough to make things familiar but different enough to make it interesting. When one is a budding magic user and one of the tests of your magic school is to summon a familiar from an alternate universe, you have a statistically low chance (but a chance nonetheless) of grabbing onto something that may indeed be Great and Powerful, but Faust-damned will she do the bidding of any strange monkey-like thing!
Princess Columbia's Synopsis
So Trixie, upon being summoned from Equestria rather against her will after replacing her cart that was destroyed in Ponyville, promptly uses magic, body language and the art of Yeeting herself out to tell her summoner that she can go f**k right off. Said summoner is stubborn and motivated to get her familiar properly bonded, damnit. Trixie decides that if she's on a foreign world, she'll blend in using her illusion skills, casting a spell to make herself look like her summoner but not realizing said template has friends and is underaged.
Why am I highlighting this fic?
Because it's fu~u~un! I wanna see more of The Adventurous and Universe-hopping Trixie, and the author does a fantastic job of writing the characters from the crossover series to the point that every time I read this fic I get to thinking I should pick it up...then I take a look at my "to read" pile and "to watch" queue...
What makes this fic particularly good?
While the MLP side takes the reader's familiarity with the show up to the end of S1 for granted, they don't assume you're familiar with the crossover material and consequently do a magnificent job of writing the new characters and setting in such a way as to be an introduction and not just throwing characters into a sandbox and hoping for the best.
Who would like this fic?
Fans of The Great and Powerful TR~R~RIXIE will be in love from word one. People looking to read a well executed crossover to learn how to do one themselves should also take a look at this one.
Does the author monetize?2
No, be sure to drop them a line to encourage them to become a filthy, filthy capitalist.
- Endorsement on Princess Columbia's List is an endorsement of the selected work of fiction only and is not intended to endorse the creator of the work in any other way.
- Why highlight whether the author monetizes their work? By providing renumeration to the author, you often get the opportunity to request certain works be given higher priority. Additionally, when a person is able to get paid for their passion on their terms, it can often allow them to cut out things that otherwise distract from said passion, like a day job.
