I kept trucking along at the revision yesterday. I had to stop rather soon, because after a day of intense revising, my mind didn't really manage to stay focused anymore. Since I can't afford that the revision fails, I decided to stop after revising after about one fifth of Chapter 3.
As I want to work on something else this afternoon, I will continue with the revision either tonight, tomorrow after I've written my review for the newest episode or on Sunday night, depending on how much time and energy is left between other commitments and projects.
However, in addition to revising Chapter 3, I've also taken an early look at Chapter 4. And after I went through it, I have decided to scrap it entirely and to rewrite it from the ground up, instead of just revising it. It's much too short, all the characters in it sound like cliched cardboard cutouts and there's way too much Tell instead of Show in it. I wasn't at the healthiest possible state of mind while writing it, so I'm not surprised it turned out horrible.
I deleted all of Chapter 4 from the revision document and it was an easy thing to do. Lemon Crumble deserves a better introduction.
For those of you who might be missing certain scenes, I try to aim for it to have the same scenes in it, just written way better, but I can't make any promises on that front. It's been a few months since I've written this chapter and I will go with a completely different feel into rewriting it, so there will definitely be additional scenes and I might have to axe one or two scenes entirely if I realize that they don't fit. But you'll get a much better chapter out of this rewrite. Not to forget that we are only at the very beginning of this story. Much grander things will await you if you keep reading.
Overall, the revision stands at a solid 68% now, after the deletion of Chapter 4. Only a little more than 30%, or, a little more than three A4 pages and I'm done with it and can continue writing the story. The new Chapter 4 will be written in the usual fashion then, with the aim of releasing one chapter per week.
