An Apology & A Horsecrux · 11:10pm Nov 11th, 2012

Firstly, I'd like to say sorry to anybody who was dissatisfied with the content of Chapter XI of Repercussions. Not about the subject matter, but of the writing quality. Steben so aptly pointed out that I told too much. This is partly true. While writing combat, a mixture of show and tell is the recipe for success. For example, you show something happening, and if more of the same happens directly afterward, you continue to use dialogue and/or tell until something else happens, then show again. My error was telling and then showing in some cases, or telling and nothing else. There are likely many story-related questions arising from the last two chapters, but rest assured, many of them will be answered in due time, specifically in Chapter XIII.

I have since carefully revised the chapter, and it should contain tell in combat only where necessary. Remember, "show, not tell" is incorrect. "Show and tell, and know when to do both" is the philosophy one should follow in writing, at least according to my award-winning, Pony Fiction Vault-inhabiting, BA in Creative Writing-holding editor, not to mention my University Creative Writing Professor. Yes, I am taking Creative Writing in University. I'm even using MLP fanfiction for assignments, including my final one. They're Repercussions-related (mainly backstory), so if I eventually clean them up and publish them, they'll be in a "scraps" type of submission down the road.

Secondly, what is a "Horsecrux", you might ask? Well, some of you awesome followers may have noticed I wrote a fanfiction of a... uh... certain subject matter. When I began to write, I felt like I had to tear my very soul asunder in order to create the damn thing. It is an object of unspeakable evil, rife with dark magic. I dub it a Horsecrux. What drove me to write it? Partly due to lack of views on a story I've spent 14 months and counting on, and partly to prove a point. I also felt like challenging myself in a twisted sort of way, plus the concept for it, which randomly hit me like a locomotive while I was cooking breakfast, was too amazing to pass up. I've taken the powers and techniques Horse Voice taught me and have begun using them for evil.

Have I become the Lord Voldemort of pony fanfiction?

Haha, making horsecruxes and using your writing powers for evil is too funny! Is it really that bad? Why, Gary, you don't need to be so hard on yourself for how you feel about pone
