    Coming Soon, Really

I've been a bit under the weather since Trotcon, but feeling better now.

This weekend I need to work on putting together some poni stuff for my niece (she's up here for her birthday), and my inability to do basic things makes that a bit difficult. So I may be delayed a few days on the Trotcon retro and the other long post I still really really want to share with y'all.

Twilight's Enigmatic Clarification (AI ≠ LLM GAI)

To head off any possible confusion, I've added a clarification to TEEE's story page and a note at the top of the chapter explaining that TEEE was not written using LLM generative AI (the story actually predates this technology by several years).

I will be at Trotcon. Still alive.

I remain alive, and as of June 13th am now the number of symmetries in a cube.

    I will be at Trotcon.

Please contact me if you're there! (Or even if not, that's okay too.) :pinkiesad2:

I might do an author party. I'll announce it with another post. Signal boost would be useful.

I am still alive and also at AnthrOhio

Sorry for disappearing. Ironically the thing I wanna talk about is the thing that keeps me from being here at FF or getting anything done. :facehoof:

BronyCon 2019 Retro, and Plans · 8:13pm Aug 10th, 2019

I'll make this brief, because I have a mountain of work to do. Including this...

I WIN PONY.

This is the pony fanfiction I own. Yes, I bought a lot of ALL of the books at the BronyCon bookstore (most of what you see here). Not pictured: Bad Horse's books which are yet to be shipped to me.

Anyway, BronyCon was awesome. As mentioned, many of the authors here got together and put up a bookstore. I sold maybe sixty books, gave away a dozen or so, and almost broke my ankle on Thursday because I carried around too much heavy crap. Several authors came to my aid when I overextended myself (twice) because pretty much everypony involved with the bookstore was wonderful and amazing.

The authors in the store are also super-talented. I look forward to reading that mountain of books, but more on that in a bit.

I did some cosplay as Pinkie Pie in her gala dress, which I'd also done a few years previous. There are some photos but I'm too picky and don't like the ones I've seen thus far so you'll just have to imagine it.

The "Best Fanfic Ever" panel (Ponyfic: There Can Be Only One) was remarkable. I was not one of the contenders, but that is as it should be. Monochromatic won with The Enchanted Library, which is not one of my purchased books because it hasn't been printed yet. I think.

There is at least one changeling in this image.

horizon was a judge. You can see above as he molests my Thorax, for which I cannot blame him (I mean the adorbs changeling, not that part of my anatomy (at least in this image)). If you are interested in reading good fanfiction for a change of pace, there is an RCL blog post describing all the great fics they discussed at the panel.

I got to see many author and reader friends. I hosted a party where I wore a bikini and ponies who hadn't purchased my book yet stuffed dollar bills into my g-string because I didn't really have anywhere else to put the cash and I'm pretty sure I can't post pictures of that on Fimfiction but horizon did drunk tarot readings and several authors gave impassioned speeches about the ride not ending and it was fun.

I'm going to post another entry very soon describing how to order my book!

More than 400 pages and over 30 illustrations, featuring 21 short stories.

I have some overstock to get rid of before I can put up the Lulu link (a couple dozen books) and I want to do a more thorough edit before I release it anyway. The overstock will be $5 cheaper (I think, not sure about shipping differences), unlike on Lulu I can autograph it for you before I ship it if you like, and the formatting errors are very minimal so you're not gaining much if you wait for the edit.

Finally, back to the stack of books.

I have a hard time reading fiction. I need to change that now, not only to justify the four digits' worth of USD I ejaculated onto Aquaman, but for a more personal reason. Editing my book has shown me something: I still have a lot of room to grow as an author, and I cannot progress further if I don't start reading other fiction.

There are phrases and words I repeatedly go to when I want to convey something, and this well is limited because my experience with fiction-based words is also limited. There's only so much literary masturbation you can do and still improve. I need to change that, and since my mood has improved due to the reduction in opiates due to the medical sticky-icky, I can do that now. I think.

At BronyCon I felt rare things, like happiness and maybe even this "pride" thing I've heard so much about. I love all of you. Thorax tells me I need to work on feeding off of love, because I'm great at giving it out but it's hard as Tartarus for me to let it in, and I've made a little progress there. Thank you all so much for helping me on that front (not only to the BronyCon attendees, but also to my friends here whom I did not see).

Updates and stories will be coming in the next week. I'm very excited. :pinkiehappy:

And to sum up everypony's opinion at BronyCon, pony ain't goin' nowhere. :ajsmug:

To be fair, you gave him your Thorax for molestation purposes. (The plushie, not the anatomical region. As far as I know.)

Sorry I didn't show at the party this year. No one told me where it was, and I wanted to attend to a few things I'd neglected over the weekend anyway. Still, good to see you, and very gratified that you enjoyed my cosplay so much.

And yeah, you win at horsebooks.

I wish I could have made that purchase.

Pinkie cosplay was epic, can confirm. :D

the four digits' worth of USD I ejaculated onto Aquaman

Holy fuck, you madwoman. @_@

Hopefully now you feel less awkward about me paying your entry fee for BC! :derpytongue2:

To head off the inevitable: "Gee Trick Question, you must be rich!"

Not anymore. Don't you know how money works? :facehoof: Seriously, though. Supporting fellow authors is one of the biggest priorities I have, so I'm happy to divert a big chunk of my disposable income in that direction.

Well thank you for giving me your book regardless. :D

So many books...

That is a lot of books. :D

And good luck on the fiction-reading and love-feeding!

That's one beautiful set of book stacks!

It was great seeing you again, Trixie. Thank you for signing my book and letting me come to the after party. Thorax is best big pony!

That’s a whole lotta horse words. Best of luck reading them, I hope it’s easier now

It was in my blogs! That is always the place to check for Trick Question stuff, ffr.

I was already sorry that I had to head back Sunday night and so couldn’t make the get-together, although maybe I didn’t have the right dress code anyway... FimFiction parties are a lot more wild than I thought.

In any event, it was a pleasure meeting you, even briefly!

Dang it. I shoulda gone to that after-party. I'd rattle off the reasons for why I didn't, but... well, rationalizing won't change anything now, and it won't change the fact that I wish I'd been there. Oh well. It was nice meeting and hanging out a bit with you during the con, nonetheless!

Thorax tells me I need to work on feeding off of love, because I'm great at giving it out but it's hard as Tartarus for me to let it in, and I've made a little progress there. Thank you all so much for helping me on that front (not only to the BronyCon attendees, but also to my friends here whom I did not see).

Here, enjoy some complementary munchies:

I'm speechless! (But not typeless, fortunately.) That pic is pure pony word-porn! :twilightoops:

I think I can tell what all the rest are, but what are the books above Sensation, The Mono-Logues, The Haunting, The Last Brony Gets His Wish, and Oversaturation?

5103528
In order: Hello, Sedna / Bon Bon Bon Bon Bon Bon (by SS&E, the latter also with foxinshadow), Sam and Rose (Admiral Biscuit), The Essential Dubs Rewatcher ...But the Kitchen Sink and Other Travesties, TD the Alicorn Princess (Bronywriter), and Fire & Rain (Ruirik).

5103547
Wait, if that one's Gentle Nights, what's the bottom one in the middle pile?

5103555
Oops! I fixed my response.

5103555
That last one you asked about and then deleted your request (the one above Songs of the Sisters) is Star Overhead by KorenCZ11.

That ... is a lot of pony fic.

'course, since you were one of the lucky ones to get ahold of The Flash Sentry Papers, this means you have impeccable taste.

5103590
Or it means I have no taste and indiscriminately purchased everything possible. :facehoof:

(Actually, I have some taste and indiscriminately purchased everything possible. And FSP is high on the to-read list.)

5103590
Yikes. How in Tartarus was I not following you?

Pat pat!

Getting to finally meet you was a highlight of the con for me! I wish I could’ve hung out more, but I got sucked into the LineCon Nebula and had to fend off a surprisingly up-gunned Miranda-class vessel to work my way back to Q&S...

...so y’know. :derpytongue2:

That's... yeah. That's a lot of book. Someday I hope to have that much book, much like my father, my sibling(s), and my friends. (Seriously, I seem to befriend people who love books and RPGs more than anyone else. Guess I'm an awesome nerd, right?)

I would totally have bought all those books myself. If it weren't for Baltimore being as hot as balls out and the potential for me to melt into nothingness lugging those books back to my hotel. And LineCon being nuts. And me not having a sponsored membership so I wasn't anywhere near the front of the line. And me not wanting to take that many books back in luggage on an airplane. Yeah...

Still, it was good meeting you for a little bit. And attending the party.

I hosted a party where I wore a bikini and ponies who hadn't purchased my book yet stuffed dollar bills into my g-string because I didn't really have anywhere else to put the cash

I can attest to this.

i see some books there that we definitely didn't sell at the Brony Bookstore (which is a name we can take to other cons without trademark infringement or sacrificing that amazing alliteration).
Mind dropping a few links to where you bought those? In particular BP and Anthropology. Lyre mare needs some real estate on my shelf.

Those are all Ministry of Image books (see the symbol on the side). I was unable to order them online because US federal law blocked the payment to Russia, but they have had a table at Trotcon and BronyCon (actually at Trotcon they were sold at the TPM I think), and probably most major pony cons.

5103800
For the record, Regidar was incorrect about last year's party: I was not drunk. That would be impossible because I've never had a drink in my life. (I might have been slightly giddy for other reasons because Morning Sun is a very bad influence, however. But not that giddy.)

What? Why? :twilightoops:

Paypal just said something like, "We're sorry. This payment cannot be processed due to federal restrictions." No detailed explanation whatsoever. I assume it's a Russia sanctions-related thing. It was a lot of money. Not four digits, I don't think, but still a lot.

Drinking: I just never have, is the short answer. I never really did drugs either, though I did try marijuana once when I was 20. (Today, I have experience with marijuana, which I don't like much; ketamine, which is nice but I've done it dozens of times and only under doctor's guidance; and opiates, which I would love to stop doing entirely.)

The longer answer is that I've been off and on medications that are contraindicated by alcohol for about 20 years, so now that it's legal, even if I wanted to get drunk, I probably shouldn't.

Also, in general I already know I have a bit of an addictive personality, and I deal with depression. So alcohol probably isn't a good thing to get into. It's available everywhere without a prescription and it's strong and addictive, which makes it insidious to deal with if you can't control your drinking. So why learn to drink in the first place? I have enough of a problem with opiates I take for pain (though the medical pot has largely fixed that, which has led to me regaining some of my lost abilities and improving my mood substantially over the past few months (hence my ability to book)).

Besides, I'm already without inhibitions, so lowering them wouldn't serve much of a purpose. I'd primarily use it to make it easier for other people to take advantage of me, because that really doesn't happen enough.
