Yes, his character in the series is garbage. I know that. Time will tell if the series will improve him (they won't lol).
But...
I like that people utilize him in fanfiction. They up his character and turn him into something more likable and fun. To make a bland, stereotypical jock character in the films to a tolerable and useful character is just awesome, in my mind. That's the whole point of fanfiction to me: to create your own canon for these characters. Why not turn something boring, drab, and lifeless as him into something great?
I don't know, I just think that he can be utilized more. I think he's all right.

True. Either you like or dislike the guy. I think most people are indifferent now though. He hasn't appeared in much, so there's not much to go on.
