    Hi, There

I wrote something. You may have missed that because it's for a contest entry, and I don't like to promote those before the contests is over; but I did write something.

Why I Wrote My Most Despised Story

About a week ago I published my twenty-fourth story. It has gone on to become the lowest rated story I have ever written. I sense I have some 'spainin' to do. Why did I write "...And I Will Name Him George!"?

Quizzical Greystone Meets Her Old Magic Tutor

(this takes place in the future; eight, perhaps nine, oh let's just call it several seasons into the future. Spoilers may occur. Or maybe not. If concerned, consult a calendar then relax).

The banging of the door knocker at the entrance of the Castle of Friendship rang through the castle's front hall.

"I will get it," called Quizzical Greystone.

Hi, There · 9:27pm Jul 24th, 2019

I wrote something. You may have missed that because it's for a contest entry, and I don't like to promote those before the contests is over; but I did write something.

But it's kinda getting ignored. I guess I could try to promote it; like an Oscar nominee, but it's not for an Oscar, it's for this contest. It's a bad pun with a long set up. It's hard to shame-facedly ask you to read that. In the interest of self-promotion I could crow about the things I did right - It's a comparatively long payoff for a comparatively short setup, I do try to salt the keywords in reverse order or hide them (even though if you recognize it you still see it coming), and I do pull off a double whammy, with a minor punch line just before the big finish. I also respectfully suggest that it's a decently funny short story, even without the big honkin' groaner of a punch line. Self-serving self-promotion now ends.

The thing is, as happy as I am with my story I don't like my chances in the contest. Looking over the illustrious list of judges I find a lot of names of people who have reviewed or judged me before, and most of them have been less than impressed by my writing, and none of them have been impressed by my contest stories (Our Little Accident, Stand Ready, etc.) The exception being Skittish, reviewers agree that Skittish isn't half bad. But I think I know in advance that I'm not winning anything. But I got off my ass and wrote something, then submitted it for judgement. This, at least, is a good thing.

Ok, I'm self-indulgently whining at you. Sorry about that. But if you can't whine at your friends (and that includes you, my followers) then who can you whine at? It's been one Hellfire bitch of a week and I needed a moment of being a little whinny-baby. If you could please read my new story (though please take heed of the bad pun warning) this thing and possibly like it or leave a cheerful comment, well, you have no idea what lift I'd get from that.

Thank you for your time, and I promise to write more soon.

I did read your story before you posted this, and I found it very funny!

I did see your comment on the story, and thanks!

I read this story about a week ago and found it extremely funny! I loved how well you set the puns up and who delivered them as well. It was just perfect! Great writing, good sir!

But I got off my ass and wrote something

eyy, that's pretty good all by itself. Took me like 3 years to do that.

Thanks. I hope I've mentioned that it's always good to hear from you, Olden, because it's always good to hear from you.

We get there, eventually. It just takes effort, like exorcise. But we can't hire trainers who'll make us write. We have to do all the discipline our selves.

It's always good to hear from you, too! And to read your stories!
