This review is a completely modified version of the analysis I made on “Beauty and the Beast (2017)” 6 years ago in 2018. It also includes some slight re-analyzing, which became inevitable as I started reconstructing the whole thing.

My Second List of Least Favorite Villains

Following my previous post, I was immediately inspired to go ahead and showcase another ten of my least favorite villains. The biggest reason for why is because I enjoyed creating the last one so much that I couldn’t resist doing it again, and it felt good to get it out of my system as well.

Looney Tunes Cartoons Trailer Review · 5:36pm Jul 11th, 2019

My 6th trailer review.

Gosh, it sure has been a while since I last did one. That last one being, like, a little over 2 months ago.

Anyway, a little while back, I stumbled across this trailer to an awesome looking new Looney Tunes series that's coming soon, consisting of a sample of a future short. At the beginning of it, it goes by the title of "Dynamite Dance", which did make me wonder if it was either the actual short or the trailer to the series. But, I decided to myself 'Oh well'.

First things first, take a look at the trailer itself:

Now, to tell you my thoughts:

This trailer for the new series was awesome! I first read about the series a while back that the team was planning to be much more faithful to the classic cartoons done by the many great Looney Tunes legends, such as Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, and Friz Freleng. And from the looks of it, they literally weren't kidding!

"Dynamite Dance" had such beautiful animation, the comedic timings were hilarious, and the music was spectacular! And even though it didn't give a sneak peek at how Eric Bauza and Jeff Bergman will be voicing Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, it was still really fun. It's gotten me excited to see this series, and it hope it comes out soon.

What do you guys think?

Well, first I hear of this. I have to say, mixed feelings about it, but overall really liking it.

The choice of music is on awesome on several levels. On its own, it's a quick and snappy piece that easily lends itself to Warner Bros. style animation. In context of current events: this is Dance of the Hours, one of the well-known musical pieces used in Disney's Fantasia. Considering Disney's current trend of taking old properties they made films of and modernising it (read: making it more politically correct), this looks and sounds like a challenge. This little short is Warner going back to their old material and producing some more, or attempting to, at least, with one of the public domain pieces Disney once scored critically with.

On a lesser note, I'm not a fan of the linework. Compared to the older cartoons, it looks just a little too thick and crisp. A simple blurring effect on those layers would have sufficed to fix that. First-time viewers will doubtlessly enjoy it, though, and it does give it its own style and identity compared to the old ones, so I can let it slide.

Some of the timing is off, though. The animation needed to be snappier in places to match the music. Maybe they can do that a little bit better if this isn't the finished product: it's a question of cutting frames with the material they have already. The sound effect for the dynamite sounds wrong, too. It sounds like a gunshot, with what I can only assume is a little Doppler-shift hiss at the end, instead of a singular dynamite 'bang'.

Other than that, it's a pretty good showing for a trailer. I'd wager a guess Looney Tunes are going to declare outright war on Disney next, and start doing their versions of the fairie tales. Or operas. I want to see cartoon operas again, and it'd be great for the younger viewers, too.

I sure hope this is as good as it looks and not like the trash of today!

The kid in me is enjoying this, but the adult in me feels like this should come with a "do not try this at home" disclaimer. I don't know what to feel. :twilightsheepish:

I know what you mean. The direction that much of Hollywood is going in these days, in this case making things “politically correct”, is almost laughable. They keep trying to exclude things like dynamite because people are saying that including them would be too violent for children, yet they constantly keep pushing things like porn and promotion of agendas into cartoons.

What is up with people these days?!

I have a feeling it will be great.

It’s alright.

Personally, I’m excited all the way.

Now that you bring it up, actually, yes, dynamite is in need of a comeback in cartoons. It used to be everywhere, now it's next to nowhere. I mean, speaking as a European here looking from the outside in, that comes across as downright bizarre. America has this image about its 4th of July celebrations and fireworks, why wouldn't such things be included in cartoons? Even if parenting standards have become more lax (in the sense that they don't actively teach safety themselves anymore and leave it to others), which I'm not even sure is the case, you can still work with that.

Dynamite had its place in history. It's from the same guy we got the Nobel Prize from, for starters.

And yes, the pc crowd does irk me to some extent, too. I'm fine if they get creative with it and own up to successes and failures, though. For example, Warner Bros. cartoons don't have an iconic 'mad scientist' character yet. If they want to make one now, there's room for a black character. We had Urkel paving the way for nerds of all colours, and the stereotype of such a character being German (and often Jewish), while entertaining, is a bit overdone by this point. Doesn't have to be that specifically, but something new if they want to be P.C., something wholesome and qualitative, would be the minimum for me. When Magic: the Gathering tried it, Kaladesh worked as a set because it was constructed with those ideas in mind. It was a whole world where it made sense. Unfortunately, they ended up making it Ravnica 2.0 and yet another 'Rebellion of the people against the ruling class' story. At a time when they'd done that type of story several times already, not too far apart. But I digress.

I really hope Warner starts defying Disney some more. It's the lesser of two evils at this point, but hey, take what you can get, right?
