SIGN THE NEW PETITION TO DEMAND THE COPYRIGHT DIRECTIVE IS OVERTURNED
Haven't updated much on this subject for a while now, but ran out of ideas how to keep repeat the message while keeping things noteworthy after overexposure. Still an ongoing battle tho. Copyright Directive DID pass, but despite places like France pushing hard to enforce the Directive immediately, it'll still take at least two years for it to be put into action proper. Further slowed down by the recent election of new MEP's, which some are now our allies, but also by places like Poland dragging the broken Directive into court for breaking already existing laws of privacy and free speech. A very time consuming process, not something done in just a day.
"But it's only an European issue, why drag the US into this?"
Because it was never "just" an European issue. This is an attempt to censor the Internet which is GLOBAL. Europe isn't just one tiny corner easily shut off. You risk losing access to sites, servers, content and even friends you might never realized where based in Europe. Not to mention the American leaders who already had raging hardons for Internet censorship in the past like the attempted ACTA, SOPA and so on. If the Copyright Directive or TERREG passes after all, it'll be much harder to stop the next attempt of the US being Internet censored too.
"Just use VPN's"
Yeah, sure, while the Pro Directive people are ALSO working on bans against VPN's too.
This is still a worrying issue, as newspapers and other news outlets not based on social media are horrifyingly silent about this still going on. Not allowed to let the public know what is going on nor the consequences it'll have.
So sign, join the fight and spread the info as far as possible.
