...Okay, so about that Dazzling short. · 6:32pm Jun 9th, 2019
...Truth be told, it wasn't so... dazzling. Now, forgive me for a moment if I do sound like one of those bitchy fans I do hate with a passion.
Great song... but uh... everything else was lacking. For example, where did the Dazzlings learn to sing again? There's just so much lack of context here it's bewildering.
From what it looks like, Hasbro decided to one of two things. One, they finally decided to case on that fanservice chip and just say: "Here, here are the Dazzlings and finally you guys can shut up about asking what the heck happened to them".
Now yes, I get Hasbro has to make money, they're a big company. But I do really dislike it when certain franchises start getting lazy and stop dropping any sort of pretext that there's a value to these stories and characters. In all honesty, this short conjures up more questions than it provides answers. It seems like Forgotten Friendship was pretty much EQG's last gasp really and Hasbro's given up caring with it. ...Or to be honest, EQG has been going stale for years, if you ask me -Rollercoaster of Friendship anyone?- and Forgotten Friendship was just the last piece of creativity Hasbro had left in them for this. And given it was adapted from a novel made prior to it's release... sucks in breath well...
That said, there is another posed possibility. This could be a tease, and Hasbro inciting us with something to come really. Not likely, but possible. They could have an actual short planned, but given recent events regarding DHX I'm not holding out hopes really. As a teaser, it does show the Dazzlings being lost without their magic, and then finding themselves. It's just there are so many logical flaws and questions I can't enjoy it as much as I should be.
Mind you, it is a cute little music video, as it was planned to be, and it does seem to show the Dazzlings are finally at peace. Now... can we talk about Sonata's meme-worthy dress?
Well, Spring Breakdown was way better than Forgotten Friendship and Rollercoaster of Friendship, so...anyways, I agree that this short was kinda confusing, but I actually didn't really like the music, to be honest. I found the imagery to be the strongest part of the music video. The sound is just so different from the Dazzlings' usual style of music, and not in a good way. But I might get used to it after a couple of listens.
I think this short may serve as a teaser for where they are right now and then the next big 'episode' they reveal will feature the dazzlings as the pseudo main characters with their own little arc that will in the end make them friends with the rainbooms
