A goofy little miss that's here to write and draw to her heart's content. Her imagination doesn't know when to shut off.

    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

A Thought on "Going to Seed", Travel Plans, and Some Recent Art · 7:15pm Jun 6th, 2019

Might as well say a thing before the week's done.

Okay, so the episode was cute, and I will forever agree that you're never too old for some childlike fun, but I feel the episode's moral is a little undercut by how in the end, Big Mac did all the work while his sisters went out to hunt for the Great Seedling. They didn't exactly show AJ and AB having fun while doing work, more like ditching it entirely to catch something that may or may not be real.

Maybe if the legend was more about how the Seedling only appears to diligent workers who manage to find joy during their task, I wouldn't be so iffy about it.

Now, with those short thoughts out of the way, I should announce that my family's going on vacation to Northern California next week. Don't know how often I'll get internet (bringin' the Kindle along, so if I do get a connection I'll check up during our down time), so don't really expect to hear anything from me. Then again, I don't speak all that often unless it's episode thoughts or finally getting a dang chapter out (every time I set a deadline for myself, I get dragged to an event, I have to do a chore, I feel the need to draw something for some arbitrary event instead, the internet gets buggy, I get distracted by a new episode of another show, or I just have a headache and don't feel like writing... ugh...).

Our main goal is to visit the Redwoods (my parents asked my sister Marshy where she'd want to go for a vacation, and made it an incentive for her to get good grades), and we're also going to San Francisco. If anyone can tell me about any other interesting sights or stops that my family could check out on our coastal route from the northern border to San Francisco, that'd be great!

Sadly, thanks to said vacation, I won't have a Father's Day thing ready by the time the day comes along. Bummer.

Finally, I might as well share some of my more recent art because who am I to not live up to my username:

Okay, there is a first panel for this thing, but I think I overdid the initial insult to Cheese that got Tommy all riled up, so I figured that it'd be better to use your imagination for this one.

This probably should have gotten its own journal earlier, but whatever, here's what the Flormato wedding was like.

This bit from the newest DuckTales episode fit Cheese a little too well. The only thing I added was just that last bit in the last panel, since in the DT episode, there was no party, just an autograph signing at a furniture store opening.

Welp, guess that's it. See you later.

That last bit is just precious. And I love Fudge's "I hate everything about this situation" face. Her uncle would no doubt approve.

Enjoy your vacation!

It definitely seemed unfair that Big Mac did basically all the work. But I think the subtext is, that flashback where Applejack gets stuck in a hole and we see baby Apple Bloom with the parents was probably right before their mysterious accident. Applejack missed out spending a lot of time with her parents in the last big harvest before their deaths, which she blames on hunting for the Great Seedling. It's a big part of why she looks down on the Seedling hunt, and shirking in general.

Big Mac for his part, feels kind of guilty that he got to spend that final quality time with his parents trying out his dads yoke, and completely forgot his sister was stuck down a hole for a day. So he may grumble, but he will do however much work is necessary so both his little sisters can get in more quality family time.

You told a great story about the Flormato wedding without saying a single word.

If you are driving down right along the coast, Trinidad is a beautiful state park. Eureka has panning for gold, which is a lot of fun, and Mendocino is a picturesque town where you can view the Tule Elk in some seasons.
