My Little Pony Season 9 News 05/31/2019 · 11:48am May 31st, 2019

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the final season of MLP! It's been a solid month of episodes during the season, by that we've had a few episodes that were good, though some may say is 'just' okay, and others... Well one episode may not have been a particular favorite of theirs. But today, we prepare to discuss an episode set to kick off on the first Saturday of June (Practically on the first day of the month, I might add) with a story centered on everybody's favorite background... I mean 'Mane' character along with her family as a mystery unfolds and all of which centered on one little filly's quest to capture a mythological beast. We hope to uncover the answer to this mystery as we proceed with the episode entitled.

Going to Seed

Note: I am aware that there have been some early releases in Italy lately. But for everyone else who hasn't seen the episode and I quote from Rarity...

NO SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Pause* Thank you.

*Takes a deep breath* Anyways, based on what we know about this episode, Applejack's plans for an orderly harvest goes awry when Apple Bloom becomes obsessed with catching a magical creature which she believes can help them. When I read this plot synopsis, it reminds me of some children who would attempt to stay up late to see Santa Claus delivering gifts, keeping an eye out for when the Easter Bunny is coming to town or basically 'any' creature that usually comes in the night (Like the Tooth Fairy). And yet this begs the question: What is this mysterious creature that is only just brought up? And why would there be this assumption it could help out with the harvest? If it's any mythological creature that fits the description of what this episode is going for, that's going to take a ton of research just to narrow it down to one being.

Now when it comes to Apple Bloom's obsession... It's no secret that she would typically try to find a short cut in order to reach her goals or getting something done. I can never forget when she borrowed some of Zecora's potions to instantly get a Cutie Mark rather than wait, only to spark a case of 'Cutie Pox' (That was a disaster). So this wouldn't be the first time she's done something like this before, especially if she truly believes that this 'being' can make the harvest go along faster. Still, given how Apple Bloom has matured and developed over the years, I sincerely hope there's more to this than the synopsis alone lets on. Otherwise, if she were any more obsessed with this creature hunt we'd have ourselves a young little Ahab in Sweet Apple Acres (Without the missing leg of course).

What we're also seeing with this episode is definitely a clash between sisters, each with different viewpoints. While it's possible to assume that Apple Bloom is having fun with wanting to catch this creature, Applejack, on the other hoof, may see this as an excuse to avoid a long day's worth of hard work. It's parallel to the sibling relationship that's often been a factor in everyday life, with one sibling feeling they need to act older with a strong focus on working hard and one who just wants to enjoy their youth while they are still at that age. It's without a doubt a family episode that many of us can relate to in some degree, something for each sibling to learn about and understand. Besides, when we do get an Applejack and Apple Bloom episode we can't deny we enjoy those family moments when they are on screen even though at times they may butt heads (Which I'm more than expecting to happen).

But the big question remains: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Until next week's review, this is the Dramamaster829... Signing off!
