The Conversion Bureau: Transhumanism Worldbuilding · 11:06am May 16th, 2019

In the Transhumanism verse, the idea of a Transhuman potion had started when a man had taken an Earth Pony potion in 2012, which, instead of turning him into a pony, had a completely different effect:

He remained as a human being, but was now resistant to magic, thus becoming the first Transhuman: a Terran.

This caused the number of volunteers to the Bureaus to skyrocket, with many hoping that they too would become a Terran.

However, it was quickly discovered that less than one percent of all of the people who took the conversion potions had become Terrans.

It would be years before the cause of this was discovered to be a dormant unidentified genetic mutation that would awaken whenever a person would take the conversion potion.

Rough estimates put the mutation as being in one in a hundred thousand people.

Regardless, the discovery was what lead to the research and development of the Transhuman potion, as the accidental creation of Terrans revealed that it was possible for humans to remain human.

In order to develop the Transhuman potion, Twilight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, and Moondancer had to collect genetic data from Gaeans, the humans of the Equestria Girls universe, to discover a way to make the Transhuman Potion.

By 2015, the two alicorns and two unicorns had collected enough genetic data to create a prototype version of the Transhuman Potion, and spent two years testing it, until they got the desired results in the form of Gaians, Nephilum, Laputans, Lanteans, Methuselahs, and Shifters.

By 2018, the Transhuman potion was released to the public, and the number of volunteers to the Bureaus had reach unprecedented heights, so much so, that in the first month of the potion’s release, almost all of the Bureaus had ran out of Transhuman potions, and had to wait another few months for a new shipment.

During the development of the Transhuman potion, another variant of the conversion potion was made by accident called the Anthro potion. Before the Transhuman potion, the Anthro potion was considered by many to be ‘close enough’, as it allowed people to remain bipedal, though with a few ‘extra bits’ of course.

By 2020, a decade after Equestria materialized in the Pacific Ocean, nine years after the Conversion Bureau was opened, two years after the Transhuman potion was released to the public, and one year after the launch of the Mars Initiative, it is estimated that a tenth of humanity has taken the conversion potion, with almost half of them being Transhumans.
