New Story "Shorts of the Ponyville Blacksmith"

As the title says, I've started up a new story. It's mostly going to be a series of short stories (hence 'Shorts') that have no real depth to them, just funny little snippets.

Honestly, this is what "Tales of the Ponyville Blacksmith" was supposed to be when I started it.

    It's been a while, huh?

Gotta say, once you fall out of a habit, it's real hard to get back into it.

    Short Story: Bungee Jumping

The wind blew across the cliff where Parody and Irish stood atop a platform extending outward, preparing to bungee jump.

Parody attached the cord to his legs, “Everything taken care of?”

Irish nodded, “Yep. I took extra care in measuring the bungee cord.”

Finished, Parody stood upright, “Alright. We good to go?”

“Yep,” Irish held out his left hand for a handshake, “Godspeed.”

Quick update.

I’m for the most part finished with the notes/rough draft phase of the next chapter, Capes, and I’ll begin working on that shortly. It’s currently sitting at 15 pages of notes, so it probably won’t be another 10,000-word chapter like Catapult Fiasco, probably closer in length to Wake-Up Call part 2.

Now, I’m no architect, but this is a rough sketch of what I imagine the layout of Parody’s house to be:

Oh, and I wanted to test something.

I’ve tried seeding bits of information throughout the story, and I’m curious to see how that’s working. I’ll do this again when Capes comes out, so I’ll keep it to a simple question for now, something that doesn’t have a huge amount of plot importance:

What were Parody’s first moments in Equestria?

Wait, didn't it have something to do with Luna? I'm pretty sure he commented something to that effect before. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong since I was cleaning dishes while 'reading', Speak function is awesome. Anyway! have you ever watched El Chapulín Colorado? There is gag where someone says, "Oh, and now? Who will defend us?" And Chapulín pops out of nowhere and says "I!". It would be amazing if something similar happened

I just realized that this show didn't get an english dub, shame. Just for reference, here is an example of that scene El Chapulin Colorado with English Subtitles (El Fantasma Del Pirata), the scene happens at 7:15

You are correct in that it involved Luna.

The lines that reference what happened are:

It had been in the newspapers a while back. Up in Canterlot, something had happened between the princesses and an unknown creature. She didn’t know what exactly. The papers included a picture of one of the castle towers with a hole blown in the side, but never specified any further.

From Wake-Up Call Part 1

“Monsters, crazy ponies, angry ponies, ponies throwing me through walls-”

“What?!”

“Ask Luna. …”

“Then why was my welcome to Equestria being thrown through a wall?! Did I startle her too?!”

From Wake-Up Call Part 2

You can kinda piece it together from there, but basically Parody’s entry point into Equestria was right behind Princess Luna in her bedroom. You can imagine how that went down…

I actually went and wrote a little snippet about it, and have been waiting for someone to respond so I could post it. So, here ya go:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUGGGH!!!

Phashoom

The tranquil silence of Celestia’s morning walk through the castle gardens was interrupted by her sister’s Royal Canterlot Shriek, followed by a blinding beam of light.

Celestia lifted her head from its ducked position, ears flicking as she tried to ignore the ringing in her ears, only to have to duck a second time as something streaked past and slammed into the ground in front of her, throwing dust in the air. The sound of shattering stone was barely audible over the ringing as she lifted her head, blinking the dust out of her eyes as she turned to look at the new hole that now decorated her sister’s quarters.

As the dust settled, Celestia turned her gaze forward.

A furrow had been carved into the dirt, leaving a trail of torn grass and uprooted flowers all the way up to one of the fountains, the side of which was broken, water trickling over the rubble and a groaning figure.

Celestia calmly trotted up to it, eyes sweeping over its form, looking for injuries. “Are you alright?”

There was a cough. “… Yeah, I’m fine,” came a male voice.

Her horn glowed a soft gold as she lifted the figure out of the rubble and onto his feet.

“Thanks,” he began dusting himself off.

Celestia glanced back up at her sister’s new window. “I see you’ve met my sister.”

The figure let out a laugh, “Yeah. I’m currently three for three on unicorns using violence to say hello.” He smirked, “I think she likes me.”

You were right about that gag, it's pretty funny, and I can absolutely see that happening. I'll have to see what I can do.
