Moth got adopted by a new doggeh today.

Her name is Sugarfoot. She's a 5-year-old small breed mix whose daddy just passed away. Luckily for her, a brand new dog daddy was searching for a pup to take in and give belly rubs and ear tickles to.

Don't let the shy thing fool you. She's already romped the crap out of me once today.

All week long I've had a feeling the time was drawing near, because ever since I mentioned to my aunt that I was finally ready for a new dog, I've been having dreams about a cream-colored pup, and the last three days I have been haunted by Tater. Every time I turn around I hear his paws, his sleep-noises, his nails clicking on the floor, his grunts and huffs. I've even seen a small white blur from the corner of my eye.

That alone should've told me I was about to get a new dog. Tater was such a complete and total attention whore that it's EXACTLY the kind of shit he'd pull to start haunting me right when I'm about to get a new dog.

Anyway, my aunt and uncle showed up at around 3:30pm today with this precious pooch, and we've just been getting to know each other while my fam has brought in this and that. Already she's given me lots of sugars, i've given her plenty of pats, we've cuddled under the bedcovers, and she's ROMPED THE SHIT OUT OF ME in bed. And we're not even 3 hours in on our first day together yet!

Right now she's stretched out next to me on the couch listening to my neighbor BS with his passing friends while I try to get the cable working. I've posted pics on Twitter and asked for expert opinions on what mix she is. We know she's at least part deer Chihuahua because she has the distinct tail and nose, but my aunt thinks she's a Wiener mix while I"m calling a Lab mix.

Whatever kind of mutt she turns out to be, she's MY mutt now, and I'm gonna love the fun out of her.

She definitely looks like she's got deer-head Chi in her, but I haven't the foggiest what else she could be, breed-wise.
And she's all kinds of awesome-adorable, btw.
I'm the proud doggy mom of a 14 year old Chi myself, but apple-head rather than deer.
And he's all kinds of awesome, ornery l'il shit that he is.

May she romp the shit out of you for many years to come. :yay:

We've had every breed of Chihuahua under the sun in our family, I can spot a deer's distinct snout a mile off. And deers are pretty big for the breed, so I can picture a sire mounting a larger breed. I really want to say she's a Lab mix, because something like 95% of mutts are at least a third Lab. Whatever she is, she's definitely half that and half Deer Chi, because the Deer Chi nose and tail are REALLY standing out.

She's adorable! And I don't think she's part Wiener, her body doesn't look long or low enough to have that breed in her.

She's so cute. My dog just turned 13 on Tuesday.

Back when we had a dog, my dad built a cage outside, in the garden. He likes to barbecue and we worried our very curious doggie could hurt herself. So yeah, he built a cage—and he put the grill inside and the dog stayed out in the garden. Just seemed right to everyone.

I miss her. A lot. You give Sugarfoot lots of love, please, yes?

Awwweeeee! She is adorable! Congratulations on your new pet. Everyone should have one.

I hope the two of you make each other very happy.

yay for new friends! this is adorably good news :raritystarry:

Congratulations on the adoption, she's adorable. I'm sure she'll keep you very happy for many years.

It is amazing the way these guys and gals worm their ways into your heart.

After our previous pooch passed away at the age of 16, I told myself, No more pets. I couldn't do it again. I just couldn't.

Then came Milo.

He's sleeping on my leg as I type.:twilightsmile:

May Sugarfoot be a source of happiness for a long time.

Whatever kind of mutt she turns out to be, she's MY mutt now, and I'm gonna love the fun out of her.

I know that feeling. Dogs are wonderful creatures and I hope that you two bring each other happiness for years to come.

The fact that this happened only two weeks ago makes what just happened all the more tragic.

Sometimes, it's not about the quantity of time spent together, but the quality of what time they had together.
