    Revised Harmony Spirits

I wanted a full set of these with proper art, so with permissions from mauroz, here they are. A couple effects have been tweaked to be consistent with modern vernacular in the card game and for my own better understanding of card design and balancing, and I also added a new "Tier 1.5" form for Twilight so she can have her own Fusion outside the ace monster, and finally added Sunset as a

Twilight's Seven S9E4 Review · 4:06pm Apr 20th, 2019

200 EPISODES!!!!!!

So like, this intro explains a lot about how Twilight got so... Twilight. Her parents would reward gold stars to Twilight and Shining Armor every time they did something good, and if it was something they directly compared in like grades or activities, the better one got the star. Knowing that Twilight was raised in a household that pretty much encouraged competition with her brother for affection and praise really explains a lot about her in a very Freudian way. Like, this more than slightly makes the Twi parents look like dicks, because they screwed their daughter up bad.

Anyway, this episode is great, the Mane Six all get a chance to shine, focus is kept on them and a handful of supporting cast, as it should be for the 200th. Lots of good callbacks, lots of meme faces, lots of funny moments. I was thinking "I like this ep but it hasn't really 'wowed' me yet." Then THAT ENDING hit and it was all worthwhile, I laughed my ass off the entire final few minutes.

Fantastic episode, perfect way to celebrate 200 episodes and the incredible voice actresses who made it possible. Tara, Cathy, Ashleigh, Andrea, Tabitha, Nicole - a tip of the hoof to you all, ladies.

I agree. I don't think I'm alone in preferring this to Slice of Life either - a grand episode in its own way and a neat tribute to the fans, but loses much of its context if one isn't part of the fandom. If people look back on that years after the show's ended and the fandom's largely died down, they'll probably be scratching their heads. But there isn't a single fandom here that doesn't make sense within the context of the show too.

Oh, I'm sure one could find flaws both in the episode and in Shining's security, but I'm not sufficiently motivated to do so. And you could also argue that some characters or actors didn't get as much to do - not a lot of Pinkie or Rainbow here, or at least it felt that way to me.
And yes, those last few minutes elevate this to another level. I honestly didn't connect either Luna's remarks or the balloon breaking with Spike or an ulterior plan, and I'm sure many others didn't either. Even without the milestone, this episode would be a real funny one and a true highlight. But that milestone and what it does for the fantastic actresses make it all the more special. I'll need time to see where I'd rank this in the show's higher episodes, but that it even gets there at all, the first since mid-season 7, is a triumph. Friendship truly IS Magic.

Tara, Cathy, Ashleigh, Andrea, Tabitha, Nocile

The show has a new voice actress named Nocile? All the surprised today!

I don't think Twilight's parents were intentionally messing her up. Besides, from what we saw of Night Light in "Once Upon A Zeppelin" Twilight's OCD tendencies might be an inherited thing. Velvet also probably played a role in that, installing in Twilight and Shining that sense of competition and desire to prove yourself.

Now you're being pedantic :moustache:

A friend of mine said he feels bad for Shining, because Twilight would surely outdo him most of the time.

I pointed out "on the other hand he's married the hottest mare in Equestria and co-rules his own kingdom. I'd say he turned out alright."

This was a fun episode.

I gotta to admit, Shining Armor's security measures were clever, using the remains of Chrysalis' throne was a very impressive callback and a smart move when it came to avoid any Intruder is using a spell, and the doors only being able to be opened buy a Royal Gaurds armor is an idea that I've seen a few fanfics but never outright executed in the series itself. Kudos to that.... though I do question the practicality of all those fans he installed. It seems more like a safety hazard for any Pegasus patrols.

Rarity was just delightful in this episode, seeing her go over-the-top devious on so many occasions is just a treat.

Also, Luna and Spike being the unknown third party aiming for the crown was great, complete with them sabotaging both sides was absolutely brilliant (really says a lot when Luna purposely put Zephyr in charge because she knew he'd suck at his job).

And in the end, Spike gets to wear the crown and is acknowledged as their sibling, so sweet!

Hey, in for a penny, in for a pound. You didn't seem to mind before, so my "don't nitpick" filter got toned way down where you're concerned, mate. You have only yourself to blame, good sir! :ajsmug:

He also didn't turn out a danger to himself and others, which is more than some can say for themselves.

Yeah, this was a lot of fun. :)

I call bullshit on the entire premise, though. Remember: they never had a single fight >:V

Here, here.

Episode 100 is impossible to beat - it was one of a kind.

The live chat during tonight's episode 200 ending.... what a storm !
Episode 200 was a show well done.

When you’re entire upbringing is competition, the idea of what a fight is becomes more subjective.

I also thought this was great, but some of the dialogue was awkward. Kind of a common late MLP thing, but still. Otherwise, I'd probably give it a 9.5/10, but instead it's an 8.5/9 out of 10.

There's probably a story full of deep characterization in there somewhere.

Fighting is not the same as fun competition.

But was it always fun? If there's anyone who can blow something ridiculously out of proportion, it's Twilight "Lesson Zero" Sparkle. <.<
