Albums I'm Listening To This Month [March 2019]
Another month, another MPU to be blasted onto this little corner of the Internet. This one's swinging by a little a lot later than usual, mostly because I'm winding down from the New Year shenanigans and celebrations, but also because my grandfather, whom I had dubbed the last grandparent standing, had passed on this past week.
Don't wanna digress too much. Just wanna say that him being a high school teacher and calligraphy master kinda made him a local celebrity, so it wasn't exactly a wholly somber affair.
All that busy stuff meant that I barely had any time to take a breather, compose myself and see to it that I finish up the latest chapters of anything. I can always apologize like I always do but I think the time and words are best spared working on those chapters instead.
So, jumping right into them, starting with the story that's been churning for a while now:
in Aisling-on-High, She Gently Shines
Here it is. The title and (extremely adorable) cover art of the story that was supposed to be released on New Year's Day.
I've been working and reworking this one over and over and over, having tried my best to wiggle in something different to make it a tad bit special but in the end, I just flipped a bird and decided to just lay it out in its simplest form instead. Personally think the story's neat enough to carry itself on its own without any embellishments, though the fact that it took me so long to actually get here is kinda infuriating. Oh well.
I'll be getting it out hopefully before the next month rolls around. If not, the beginning of April then.
Maybe I should get it out on April Fools. Eh.
Panthalassa
Moondancer and oceans and body horror galore!
This was one of those stories where I've had all of my notes stored on my old laptop, only for the hard drive to fully crash and burn in the end (Cloud storage FTW). I mostly spent the previous month just restoring the myriad of names surrounding this story (characters, locations, etc.) and remembering all the little details I'm supposed to add into the story later on, which gets particularly important in the later scenes when the story starts going.
Also, the plans I've had for the horror scenes are still bugging me a little. Shouldn't be too bad, but whether or not it should be tagged 'Mature' is still on my mind. To be fair though, I have a pretty skewed view of what I think is suitable for children, so it's most likely gonna be slapped with the dreaded Red M tag when those scenes are churned out. My bigger worry is whether it affects the story in the end.
Perhaps Death
Speaking of stories whose notes were lost...
Can't say I've had that much fun restoring all the little nooks and crannies that's supposed to push the story forward, especially since I've already had all my notes planned out from top to bottom with every arc settled.
I've been trying to slow the story down a little with a bit of light-hearted banter and had been scratching my head at how to pull it off properly. On the other hand, I also figured I needed to spice things up when it comes to the dialogue of this story. Give the Doctor and his companions/adversaries more to talk about than just the usual timey-wimey exchanges to help deepen their character, that sorta thing. We'll see how it goes in time.
So that's it from me with another uber-quick MPU. Trying to make this a more productive year than the last in terms of horse-words, especially since the final season of MLP is drawing incredibly close, of which I'm both enthusiastic and disheartened by.
