Hi everypony.
It has to be more than two years at this point since I fell out of writing my weird little clopfic Two's Company.
It's not that I don't care about the story. I do. But I kind of hit a wall, and I can't quite figure out how to get what's in my head onto the page in a satisfactory way. As such, I revoke my right to finish the story and I'll allow anyone to take over who's up to the task.
The aforementioned wall I hit came from what would have been chapter 5. If you recall, chapter 4 ended with the cake twins (or singlet I guess) heading off for school. The problem is that I was writing the fic in such a way that all the characters are aged up, not just the Cake Twins. That would be fine, if not for the fact that it means the only foals who would logically go to Cheerilee's school after the time jump would be characters who are literally babies in the show proper . . . characters such as Cream Puff, Ginger Tea, or Powder Blue (you had to look those up didn't you?) So by extension, I would essentially have to make up personalities for at least 10 new characters from scratch.
I have no idea how to do that.
However, just because I'm giving away the fic doesn't mean you completely have free reign to do what you want with it. There's a few things I want to see included which, in chronological order, are as follows:
1. At school, the Cake Twins meet the bully character. But she's not Diamond Tiara. That little demon has long since graduated and, at the time the story is set, is running to be mayor of Ponyville. Instead, she's a unicorn filly named Ruby Ring who is DT's younger half sister on Spoiled Rich's Side of the family. She has a hot pink coat and a straight white mane (similar in style to Octavia's). She also has her namesake for a cutie mark.
After "Crusaders of the Lost Mark", Spoiled managed to get a one night stand with Prince Blueblood while on a trip to Canterlot. She tried to cover it up; to lie and manipulate like she always does. However, when Filthy eventually found out, the upstanding stallion decided to get a divorce. He moved out, to a different part of Ponyville, taking Diamond with him, and leaving Spoiled to raise Ruby as a single mother.
I wasn't entirely sure how to make her personality distinct from DT's while still serving as an antagonistic force to our disordered duo. However, I was thinking that growing up with only Spoiled for a role model would end up shaping the filly's personality in a very negative way. Diamond Tiara was scheming and manipulative, sure. But secretly, she was just a pathetic kid who was desperately trying to get her parent's attention. By contrast, Ruby is just ruthless and sadistic for the sake of being ruthless and sadistic. She likes it. She thinks it's fun (even more than Diamond did).
2. At some point, I wanted to include a setup in which the Twins (still fused together) are left home alone while their parents are delivering baked goods out of town (where they actually went doesn't really matter). While they are alone (I'd title the chapter "Alone Together" because that pun is too good to pass up on), the twins discover their parents hidden stash of sex toys. You can guess what happens next.
3. When the twins eventually manage to get separated, I wanted them to end up in each other's bodies. But they keep quiet about that fact to Twilight because they know they could have fun with it.
Sooooooooooo . . . yeah. That's about it. This fic is free for the taking if anyone wants to write it.
Side Note
If it's any consolidation for not finishing that old clopfic, I'd like to announce that I'm working on writing a new one. I don't know how long it will take, but I'll try to publish the first few chapters in the next couple weeks or so (I'm not making any promises on that though).
I had a really interesting idea for the premise of it . . . but I wont spoil the plot ahead of time (haha, plot).
Suffice it to say that it centers on everyone's favorite ship #Rumbloo
I do hope someone takes you up on this, or perhaps that someone gives you help in writing what amounts to half a dozen OC foals at school.
I'm disappointed to hear this, tbh. I really liked this fic. It was a really unique concept, and I feel like it was being handled pretty well.
I wonder if you could see about contacting some other writers to be, like, consultants?

That's the thing though. I don't want to continue writing it. I was trying to write around a setup that I wasn't prepared to deal with fully and it was a struggle to make it even as coherent as it is. I couldn't figure out how to make it flow well.
I'd rather just pass that burden on to someone else. If someone like dirty little secret or AzureDreamer were to take over, I'm sure they could do a much better job with it then I ever could.
As I said, I still care about the fic and I still want to see it finished. I just feel that I shouldn't be the one to do it. Other writers would be better at it.
