I forgot how to make a blog post

I spent like ten minutes trying to figure out how to make a blog post. Don't worry. I figured it out.

    Sometimes

The world is a strange place. I'm a little on the older side, but I just had a first for me. One of the people I helped raise died recently. She didn't have the best life. Her family was difficult, and I like to think that mine provided a reprieve. I helped change her diapers, taught her to read, and watched her grow up even in a difficult household. Her family loved her very much, but didn't

    I don't know why I do what I do

For whatever reason, I wrote a weird Starbound fan-fiction. It's not very good, it's 16k words, and I can't post it here because it's 100% not pony related.

    Sometimes

Sometimes I do things. Sometimes I don't. Here is a list of things, and whether I am doing them or not.

    Currently working on:
Shitty adventure game (It's extra terrible...)
Harmony Combine stuff (all three stories actually...)
Cleaned Castle (Wanna drive this train to the end of its story while I'm thinking about it)

    Check yo self.

So I've been reading too many current events, and thought I'd give a shout out to anybody that's been paying attention to them. Some of the stuff I've been reading in the news reads like some of my weird fetish stories, and not in a good way.

For whatever reason, I wrote a weird Starbound fan-fiction. It's not very good, it's 16k words, and I can't post it here because it's 100% not pony related.

I write these kind of things from time to time, but this was the first time I felt compelled to post it somewhere. Usually it ends up on 4chan for the 30 minutes the thread is alive and then disappears into the either with 50 views on a pastebin page where 45 of them are bots and 4 of them are me refreshing the page.

With this one, well...

I just don't know what went wrong.

I need a gen-fiction site, knighty. All the other fan-fiction sites have utter crap for interfaces. Yours is awesome. I had to cycle through almost 2000 tags to find what I needed for tags on the other site. I couldn't type them in and search. I literally perused a tiered list of tags. There is like a 10 minute solution in python to make an interface where you predictive search, but I don't do web stuff so I don't know web stuff. I'm assuming it's easier and they could copy paste it from github. I'm just bitching. If you want to read something weird about bird culture, click the link.

“4 views are me refreshing the page”
Sounds like my YouTube career in a nutshell 😂

Also then the site immediately died for two weeks :facehoof:

I did get a chance to read it once beforehand, though! It was great, fully up to your normal standard. Lots of fascinating psychology, likeable and compelling tragic-but-maybe-not character arc...

I think the only thing that stuck out to me was a little bit of the exposition near the start felt a little "game-y", before you really found your footing in the voice and story. It's also a little confusing - maybe intentionally so - that the Stargazer never gets his own name, but there's lots of other Stargazers and it doesn't make sense for him to be the sole top dog for all of them, and it conflates him and the cult and the Taint in strange ways I think I only barely managed to untangle correctly.

You mentioned maybe writing more - would it be a Mal situation where you'd just write a totally different story that's thematically connected, or did you actually have more in store for these two specifically? I like them a lot and think you could thrust them into new contexts, but also totally see how they're... kind of done, in tailso terms. That was definitely the complete part of the story you meant to tell, there, I feel.

Anyway, hope you're doing great and eagerly eagerly want to consume every word and thought you ever create, please please share more.

Maybe give Questionable Questing a try?

No idea what that is. I'll give it a look.

Thanks! Dunno what happened with it. Yeah, exposition is definitely a problem for me when I write Sci-Fi. The Stargazer was "The" in the context of the story due to the importance of him in terms to the main character. Kind of like if you went to a culty church, you might reference the father as "The Father". There are other churches, with other "Fathers" and you may use their names to differentiate, but everyone you go to church with knows "The Father" or "The Bishop" or something like that. He also never bothers to properly introduce himself to her, basically a situation of "Never bothered to tell her his name". Kind of wanted to drive home how unimportant her story is to him. Also contrasted by Claire, who basically immediately tells the main character her name. Claire and the Stargazer are supposed to be the same character in many ways, but none of the important ones. I actually have a bit of a storyline with a few more characters for this one. A grumpy (definitely evil) Apex scientist, a transsexual Hlotl Assassin, and an adventurous Floran... But like most things, I'll probably not write it. I found another way to get off my Starbound kick for the moment. If a big update comes out, and I start to play again, we'll see. Also, my online presence is curently reflected in the fact that it took me two months to reply.

Haven't heard from you in a while. Things doing good?
