The End of an Era · 9:00pm Feb 20th, 2019
This is my commentary on the announced Final Season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. If you are disinterested, feel free to skip this entry.
As for editing, I am still searching for help, but for some reason, no one nowadays want's to help someone who isn't making any money off of fanfictions edit for free. /sarcasm. At this rate, I may have to just learn how to edit on my own and maybe get someone just to do a pre-read to make sure there are no obvious continuity, grammatical or spelling errors. =/
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic debuted in October of 2010. At the time, I ignored it until the turn of 2011 when, at least my friend and former editor who went by 'brotherPrickle' badgered me into watching some episodes in late January. Within the week (I was busy with school at the time), I had consumed all the uploaded episodes and, that Saturday, joined a livestream to watch the new episode; Suited for Success. Until that episode, I thought the show was okay, but was constantly irritated by Rarity, who until that episode came off to me as a stereotypical, elitist trend follower. My opinion was changed in 22 minutes and so too my investment in the show forever changed.
Today, after 9 long years, my love of this show is but an ember of what it was. I haven't seen a new episode since... Season 6 Episode 24 Top Bolt but I can't say for sure. Mostly due to life because I work when the episode airs now, but even after I couldn't be bothered to find the files after the fact.
So, in regards to the final season incoming, I am both sad and relieved; on the one hand, this is the end of an era in Television. On the other, it is a great thing to see this show end before it becomes a zombie like The Simpsons has. That's... pretty much it. This show has definitely had an effect on my life and has given me a creative outlet in the form of my stories that you wonderful people seem to think have some value. It will be sad to see it go, but unlike in 2014 when we thought Season 3 would be the last, we have Equestria Girls shorts, movies and other pony-related things to help fuel the fandom flames and keep our hearts bright for many, many years to come.
Friendship is Magic, you might be going... but you will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything, and may you enter the annals of Cartoon History as a modern classic, as you rightly deserve. I hope to do a special project by the end of the season, not story, but a PMV I have had in my mind for years now.
See you all later,
~Ciroton
My thoughts are similar. I've been dipping into the fandom again to read some more Winningverse stories, but I haven't watched any episodes in ages and don't think I'll ever be as invested in MLP as I once was.
I do really hope knighty gets the general fiction version of fimfiction going soon though, fimfiction is still my favourite website I've ever found in terms of how well put together it is and how many features it offers. It's not perfect, but it's honestly damn close.
i managed to keep my love for the series for all this time. a lot of time has come and gone since i got into it. and now at its end, i am happy to have have found it. found friends i never would have had otherwise, and it inspired a creative fire in me i thought long dead. as mlp becomes complete we have other people with passion for the show making more fanfiction and fanart, and whispers of another generation of pony a time after. more to fuel the flame eternal.
also sorry you are having a hard time finding an editor. peeps are busy these days sadly.
