A good story displays a moral, the best ones attach you to the characters who display them.

Background shamelessly stolen from an actual SoT book

    Featured?!

Y'know for a moment there I was scared I'd lost my touch when it came to writing after I took those years on hiatus... this is a really encouraging sign.

Rarity’s eyes flew open, her heart was racing. There were voices, all crying out in fear and hatred as a deafening roar pummeled the town and shook the charred wall she was propped against. Her breathing was heavy and rapid, her throat burning with the taste of smoke, and painful tears of both water and blood slid down her cheeks. As soon as a loud wind passed her by, she fled from the charred remains of her boutique, desperate to find him. To find both of them. Fires leapt up all around her, reaching into the sky like great clawed fingers. The vile stench of burning flesh grew stronger, nearly causing her to vomit in the street. Seven shadows danced around her, stretching from her hooves and crackling with the sound of cinders aflame.

“Mommy!”
