The end of MLP:FiM and the Bright Future · 3:00am Feb 17th, 2019
Hello kiddos,
As I'm sure many of you have already heard, and what we have expected since the leaks, it is confirmed that S9 will be the last season of MLP: Friendship is Magic. No doubt people are spooked by this news.
Let me be the first to say that I am absolutely on board with pony. I'm not going anywhere, I'll still be writing fiction, still be going to cons, and I am (eagerly) awaiting Generation 5 of My Little Pony to come out. In fact, it's already be announced that ANOTHER My Little Pony Movie (this one probably a launch point for G5) will be released in 2021!
I'm not going anywhere, and if this show and fan community have meant as much to you as they do to me, I urge you to stick around! Don't leave the fandom, the site, or your new friends. Stick with us through the hard times and on to a bright future!

Then I will say this, I believe this fandom is strong enough to outlast the end of G4, whether we move on to G5 or not, we are a strong community, besides, at least for me, I'm been more of a Fan-Production Brony these last few years, then a Show Brony
GEN 5 i'm hyped for! maybe they launch a GEN 5 video game like thy did in GEN 3
...The end? So late... yet so soon.
I know it will continue, but I can't help but feel like a part of my childhood has died.

And honestly, I'm with you on this, I'm actually looking forward to Gen 5 of MLP. And just because Gen 4 is ending doesn't mean our love for it has to end.
EDIT: And about Gen 5, I think that it will be a spiritual continuation to Gen 4 rather a true continuation.

G4 will always be alive in the fandom.
I would find it interesting if the movie would start out as FIM, but something were to cause it to change into the next gen (what I mean is, at some point in the movie, something or someone messed with space and time and somehow changed the entire universe in the process). Which would explain why the mane six (and possibly some other characters) are there but with different appearances.
Indeed! This fandom has been wonderful ever since the beginning and it will continue to be amazing!

I'll still be here for the fanfiction, but I'm going to plug JawJoe's masterwork and suggest that the writers mortally wounded the show with Season 3, killed it with Season 4, and have been doing unspeakable things to the corpse ever since.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere either. I have a lot of ideas left to write, and TONS of stories here left to read.
I'm interested to see where Gen 5 goes. I don't know if I missed some part of the leaks, but I'm curious as to whether it's going to be something like an [x years later] continuation of FIM, or a completely new world with new lore. It'll be interesting either way.
I stopped watching MLP after Season 7, due to loss of interest, but I had a lot of fun being in this community and interacting with bronies. This may be the show’s last season, but the franchise will continue strongly!

Well, I’m not going anywhere. Pone has had too much of a positive effect on my life, and I loved going to Ciderfest, so I’m totally sold on moar cons, even if I can’t make the final BronyCon. Plus I’ve never had a drive or outlet that I felt was appropriate for my creativity before.
It’s amazing how pony changes you. If you told me in 2010 that within 10 years I’d be writing fiction about far future ponies snuggling in an ice cave, I’d have been a pretty nasty person about it. Hell, even after having been part of the fandom since S2, I still thought very little of fan fiction in general until about 2015. But a podcast, with... Sandy and Hard Cider, I think, got me interested in some fanfictions... and after reading them, I was irrevocably hooked. I think that pony has changed me for the better, expanded my horizons and gotten me out of my close-mindedness. There’s no way I’m giving up on a community that helped me grow in such a positive manner.

I have stories to write, too! As well as many stories I’ve yet to read!
I love the fandom, I love everything it has created, and I love gen 4. I know that the fandom will continue for (hopefully) the many years to come because of the connection we and the show have built. But I fear that because gen 5 is abandoning the simplistic gen 4 artstyle, it'll drive away much of the fandom and maybe drive away potential fans as well. I just hope they get the world and story building right so it could make up for the loss of a unique artstyle.
